Tirasha picked at the meatroll she had grabbed uncertainly. She had never been big on eating, as anyone could tell from her appearance. Finally deciding that Hers was not about to eat, Tianthe ducked her head in and snagged the roll. Perched on her hind legs on Tirasha's shoulder, her forepaws clutching the meatroll, the Grass flitt began chewing happily away. "I might have eaten that," Tirasha chided softly. Willow purred and rubbed his head against her throat. The Mineral was hungry too. Tirasha smiled and stood to grab a couple more meatrolls, one for her and one for the flitt. The juice she had grabbed sat untouched on her table, the only thing she had downed quickly was some browning fruit.

Tinidor was hungry. This was not surprising, as the boy was already big and still growing. The kitchens were where the candidate, thus, made his way, glancing around. There was the skinny healer and her firelizards. He contemplated cultivating her...he had never been in the right place at the right time to Impress one, and she did have a green. Maybe he could bribe, trade or sweet talk an egg out of her.
He did not go straight over, though. The first thing was to pile his plate with fruit and meatrolls, then, he made his way over to her table, hesitated, then, "Mind if I sit there, Healer Tirasha?" he asked, politely, in a voice already as deep as some full grown men.

Tirasha was back in her seat in moments and took a big bite out of her meatroll in case that deterred Tianthe from stealing a second one from her. Willow started happily on his own, taking small bites and chewing slowly in a manner similar to Tirasha's. In whatever way he could think of he seemed to take after her. Tianthe scrambled onto her owner's head and watched the meatroll like a hawk watching a rabbit, waiting for the perfect moment to dart for it.
The boy coming over to her table took Tirasha by surprise. "Sit here?" She swallowed quickly and nodded. "Of course, of course. There's not anyone else to take up the space anyways." Willow gave a friendly chirp and Tianthe eyed the newcomer's mound of food hopefully. "
"Just watch out for Tianthe," Tirasha added quickly, feeling the fire lizard shift atop her head, "she'll probably try to steal your food. I try not to let her but it doesn't work too well..." Tianthe gave a sharp bark of surprise, offended that the Healer would suggest such a thing. Willow rumbled softly and buried his muzzle in his meatroll to hide the laughing shade of his eyes from his sister.

Tinidor laughed a bit. "I wouldn't mind getting me one of those. Have never had any luck...I always seem to miss Hatchings, or arrive when there's only shards, or get called away." He did, though, guard his food from the watchful grass lizard.
She was very cute. They both were. The woman, of course, would not appreciate him thinking of her as cute, but being a teenaged boy, he was rather inclined to do so anyway. "I'm Tinidor. I *think*...I know you're a healer, but I'm struggling to recall your name."

"Yeah, I got lucky with these two. Go walking on the beach a lot and maybe you'll end up at a wild hatching." She smirked. "There is a hatching coming up soon here though, I believe. You could try your luck." Tianthe eyed the meatroll in Tirasha's hands, noticing the the Healer seemed to have forgotten it. There was still plenty left for the little Grass...
"You greeted me by name when you came in," Tirasha pointed out. "Healer Tirasha, hmm. I'd rather just be called Tirasha, I hate titles." Willow finished his roll and looked up at Tirasha hopefully. She handed the Mineral her meatroll and Tianthe grumbled softly, glaring at the larger flitt at foiling her plans for more food.

Tinidor shook his head sheepishly. "I guess I have a lot on my mind. And I probably will. What is your little mineral called? I caught the grass one's name." He munched on his meatroll, keeping one eye on the firelizards.
He was more interested in when there would be another dragon hatching, but he was not going to talk about that. Two Turns of not Impressing had given him a rather sanguine attitude, at least outwardly. If there was actually a clutch, he would get excited, and then miserable afterwards. He tried to stop himself from doing it, but could not. So, he was often forced to settle for pretending it meant nothing.

"I think I'll leave the flitts at that hatching to those without." Tirasha absently stroked Willow's back and the little Mineral purred happily. "And his name is Willow." Tianthe popped suddenly between, apparently coming up with a new plan to get more food. Willow seemed content with almost two rolls and wrapped his tail happily around Tirasha's neck.
"There's probably a lot going on with candidates- you are a candidate right?" Tirasha had thought that originally, but as she called Tinidor that felt suddenly unsure. The doubt passed quickly though. "Right now," she continued softly, "with the flight coming up."

Tinidor nodded. "I'm a Candidate, yeah. Trying not to get too excited. That way if I don't Impress, I won't be as disappointed." It made logical sense. More meatroll vanished into the large young man's maw. He was eating like, well...a firelizard hatchling.
"But yeah...a sunshine flight is always a good thing." He wondered who would catch her. He wondered if he would ever be amongst those male riders hoping to catch...or if he would, say, Impress sea, and never have a chance. Not that he would...well...the dragons knew best. He would Impress what he was suited to. Rather a male dragon, he thought, than a female, but even that...he could handle. As long as he Impressed...eventually.

Well, what did we have here? Two of the Weyrfolk - one a candidate - sitting and eating lunch? Wonderful. M'tan needed to meet some of the Candidates - he was thinking of applying for a position as Candidate or Weyrlingmaster, if they weren't taken by someone else yet. He thought the other was a Healer, but he didn't know any of them. Hadn't had any call to see them lately. Well, he should talk to them anyway. He got a rider-sized (large) portion of meat, and a very meager selection of fruits, and walked towards the two eating together.
"Greetings, Healer, Candidate. May I sit here? I am M'tan, of Niagareth. He'd love to be in here talking to you, but just can't fit. He's tried, once or twice, and we had to grease up the doorway." He sat down in between the two of them, smiling lightly, and set down his plate.
"Apologies if I am interrupting anything, but I noticed the two of you talking and just couldn't help myself. I truly need to meet some of the people around here." He looked down at their plates, grinning until he noticed Tianthe's which seemed to be quite empty. "Well, Candidate, you seem to have an appetite to rival that of most dragon hatchlings, but you, Healer, either eat very fast, or very little."

"I've never seen a candidate who didn't Impress come off the sands without dissapointment," Tirasha commented thoughtlessly. "Of course, I haven't seen many hatchings. We've only been here five years I think..." she glanced at Willow, who chirped an affirmative. "If I were at a hatching I would hope I didn't get mauled by one of the dragonets... it's horrible when that happens." Tirasha shook her head. "What kind of dragon would you want to Impress?"
Tianthe reappeared practically on Tinidor's lap, trilling loudly and darted at his plate, trying to grap something. "Tianthe!" Tirasha gave the Grass a shocked look and Willow gave a bark of surprise, sliding lithely off his friend's shoulder and leaping across the table to tackle the smaller flitt. Both bowled into Tinidor's stomach.

Tinidor shook his head. "The right dragon for me." He started to smile at the waterfall rider...then found himself with a grass firelizard in his lap...and then a mineral one. "Oof!"
Two firelizards hitting his stomach, fairly hard, had knocked all of the breath out of the poor lad, or he would probably be laughing. Finally, he managed, "Geroff!" Or something that sounded a close approximation to that, anyway. Poor Tiny.
Maybe he was better off *not* having one of the little pests!

"Shards... sorry." Tirasha briskly ordered the the flitts back to her side and they sheepishly obeyed. Finally she noticed the rider who had just sat down next to her and blushed. "Ah, hello..." She paused to give Tianthe a warning look, but Willow had her successfully pinned beneath his forepaws and chest. Tianthe grumbled unhappily.
"I'm Tirasha," she replied quickly, figuring that from the lack of her name in his greeting, M'tan didn't know it. She couldn't think of much to say about his comment about food. Of course she didn't eat much, and with Tianthe around wouldn't have gotten the chance even if she wanted to.

The two siblings had arrived not too long ago at the Weyr, but they were already fairly familiar with it.
They walked side by side, the younger girl with her arm around her brother's. If it wasn't obvious that they were related...they would have made a horrible couple, always seeming to bicker.
But for now they were just walking into the Kitchens, Sameric and Torimin. On Sameric's left shoulder his Sand fire-lizard Uli was perched happliy while on Torimin's right shoulder Moon, her Earth fire-lizard, was perched just as content.
They gathered food and drink, then went to find a place to sit. Sameric saw that there was a little group and steered them both over. " Hello everyone! I am Sameric and this is my sister Torimin!" They didn't know anyone...so he figured that eating with some people would be a good way to learn who they were.
Torimin sat down near the other boy, a Candidate like themselves more than likely, with a gleam in her eye...while Sameric just plopped down by the woman, smiling at her.

Tinidor smiled at the siblings. "Hey guys. We were just discussing things of grave importance," he said seriously, and then winked. "Flights." He was indeed wearing a candidate's white knot, and had an empty plate...well, a few crumbs...sitting in front of him.
His eyes flicked to Torimin. "I'm Tinidor." He inwardly braced himself to see if either of them would produce his inevitable nickname. He'd be glad to Impress so he could shorten his name! But he was still outwardly quite calm. Meeting new people was good. It meant the possibility of friends, and friends were very good indeed.

Sameric smiled over at the other Candidate. " Hello Tinidor." He took a bite out of a very good pastry of some kind. Spicy, probably meat then, he thought.
Torimin leaned over closer to Tinidor. " Hey there Tinidor, aren't you big and strong." She said rather, and surprisingly, sensual. It wasn't a question, and it made Sameric sigh heavily. She was always a big flirt...and wasn't flirting with the other man because he was wearing dragonrider knots more than likely.
He continued to eat and looked over at the Healer while Torimin reached over and grabbed a meat roll to eat and drank a little fruit juice. She wasn't going to stop flirting...but having an empty stomach made it harder.

Tirasha smiled at the new pair of candidates. Tianthe, seated in Tirasha's lap, looked up at the boy who had just sat down next to the Healer hopefully. Willow's eyes flickered a warning yellow as he watched his sister. The little Mineral did not want to be made a fool of a second time in the same meal.
"I'm Tirasha," Tirasha introduced herself helpfully, "and that's Willow," she motioned to the flitt on her shoulder with her chin, "and the little Grass is Tianthe." At the moment Tirasha didn't feel quite like repeating herself and warning the newcomers of Tianthe's many plots for food theft. Hopefully the Grass simply would not do anything more, or they would offer her food. Tirasha didn't mind letting her fire lizards have what was offered.

Tinidor blushed scarlet as the girl came onto him. "It runs in my family. Or you can blame my mother being a cook." He winked at her, trying to defuse her by making light of it.
He did not really want to end up in a relationship until he had Impressed and gone through weyrlinghood. Dragons, not girls, were the focus of his mind, but a small part of him couldn't resist the inner commentary of 'Grass. Bet she gets a grass'. Grass dragons were shameless flirts, and often, but not always, picked riders with similar...tendencies. That was one color he could not see himself riding. Besides.
He wanted an earth dragon. Like his father.

Sameric smiled up at the Grass and offered the rest of his pastry to her. " There little one, eat this!" Uli looked at the other fire-lizards intently and chirped happily as she jumped to the table and picked out a meat roll from Her's plate.
He stroked Uli distractedly. " So Tirasha, you are a Healer here? That job can be pretty stressful huh?" He smiled as Uli's brother Moon hopped over to join in the feasting.
Torimin let him go eat with Uli because she was busy with other things. She grinned at the boy. Loved to see them squirm when she flirted, she was devious....but really didn't mean much by her flirting. " No, there is no blame here." She said quietly as she reached out and grasped his arm...feeling his muscle. " It's very good." She looked at him, eyes glittering and smiling sweetly.

Tinidor chased the blush away and smile. "How long have you been at the Weyr?" he asked of the girl. Had he seen her around or not? He was not sure...he, of course, had spent his entire life here, weyr and rider-bred.
Then again, there were some good riders who came from holder lines with no known rider blood, including queen riders. "I was born here, myself," he explained. "My father was an earth rider." That he said with pride, his father having taken on mythical proportions in his mind.

Tianthe thankfully snapped up the pastry, swallowing it as quickly as she took it before humming thankfully to Sameric and giving his arm a quick nuzzle. Tirasha laughed. "You should savor your food Tianthe, what's the point of eating it if you've swallowed your food before you even know you have it?" The Grass only gave her a confused look while Willow rumbled.
"A Healer? Yes..." Tirasha hesitated, mulling over Sameric's question. "Yeah, it can be, I guess. When Thread is falling at least, there's so much running around. Overall I don't get to do a lot though." She glanced over at Torimin and Tinidor. "Looks like your sister's having fun." Tirasha wasn't much of a flirt herself, taking more enjoyment out of watching others. Some people were just shameless...
