Sameric smiled at the two fire-lizards on the table, Uli and Willow. He wondered when Uli was going to finally fly and who would catch her, but that was another matter. ((This was before Uli's Flight was decided...I mean that Sameric was in this thread before that. )) Torimin also looked at the two flitts, as Moon hobbled over...finally full...and chirped happily at Willow. Uli looked at the Mineral curiously. She liked other males besides her brother...but she had never flown. Sameric was concerned about that, but maybe now that other Impressed males were around...she would. " Uli seems to like your Mineral." Sameric said cheerfully. " Sorry you don't have one Tinidor, but if Uli ever clutches and you still don't you can try your luck with hers!" He smiled.

Tinidor couldn't help but grin. "Uli seems to be flirting a lot. Do sands clutch?" Green firelizards did, sands probably did too. He did wonder if and dragons would. "And thanks. If I don't get one from that sunshine clutch that's around and she clutches, I'll hit you up." A pause. "It's not like I care what color a firelizard is...well, wouldn't mind an earth one, they're cute, but..." Sands were smaller, and would produce smaller clutches and colors if the gold/green rule applied to them. If. "Either way, she's very cute."
He contemplated getting another of those pastries for some time, furrowing his brow and then, finally, reaching for one. Just one with all the work he was doing would not make him fat.

Willow chirped to the little Earth too, apparently going into one of his more social moods. Tirasha planted one elbow on the table, Tianthe had her head rested on the other, and cupped her chin in her hand to watch the flitts. And although she didn't answer Tinidor's question, she guessed that all female fire lizards could clutch.
"Tianthe is always happy to give up her clutches too," Tirasha said instead. "She lays pretty big clutches for a Grass, and I think she has layed Earths before." If the little flitt had been awake she probably could have assured that. Tirasha had never kept very good track of Tianthe's clutches.

Sameric smiled broadly. " If I remember right Tindor and Tirasha, Sands...and as a matter of fact all female fire-lizards...clutch! Though they clutch smaller than others, and so do greens usually." He smiled at Tianthe's sleeping form.
Torimin leaned on the table heavily and sighed. " Yes, but Uli has never Flown...we think partly because she doesn't really like wild fire-lizards and isn't too keen on a clutch fathered by her brother. She's rather smart for a fire-lizard."
Uli chirped happily at everyone and the Mineral Willow. She flapped her wings enchantingly and they shimmered with the look of billowing dunes.

Tinidor hrmed. "Or maybe she's just a late bloomer." Dragons mated with close relatives all the time. It didn't seem to affect them...unless that was why the new colors had shown up, but in his mind, that was a positive result, not a negative one. "She is very, very pretty, though. I like sands..." He wouldn't turn down a sand firelizard, he thought. Well, he wouldn't turn down any firelizard. If somebody handed him an egg, he wouldn't care.
He also glanced at Tianthe. "So is she." Nothing wrong with grass...but he was not sure he wanted a grass *dragon*.

Tirasha smiled as she watched the flitts. "I wonder what they're saying to each other when they make all those little noises..." Tianthe snorted in her sleep and woke up abruptly, shaking her head in surprise. As it turned out, the little Grass had come awake just in time to hear Tinidor's compliment and gave a happy little trill.
Next she noticed the little gathering on the table and scrambled off Tirasha's lap to join them. Although Tianthe was medium-sized Grass, she looked very small compared to the other fire lizards. She sidled up against Willow and chirped her own greeting.
"You know, Tianthe has never let Willow fly her either," Tirasha commented. "Although I think he's only tried to once, maybe twice." Overall, the little Grass seemed to have an aversion to being flown by Minerals and did her best to avoid it all together.

" I guess it all depends on the fire-lizard." Sameric said happily. He watched the fire-lizard gathering grow as the Grass awoke and hopped onto the table to greet the others.
Torimin laughed as Moon cocked his head looking at Tianthe. He had a real interest in any female fire-lizard...other than Uli, and would undoubtedly try to fly this little green at least once.
Still Sameric hoped that Uli would eventually clutch at least a small clutch, she was quite a pretty fire-lizard and he would like to see how her off-spring would turn out. He smiled still as Uli happily welcomed Tianthe into the 'conversation'.

Tinidor nodded. "They can be picky little creatures." He added, in mock self-deprecating tones, "Maybe that's why I don't have one yet."
He'd been rejected by dragons. The firelizard thing was just luck. "Anyway, we can talk about firelizards all day, or we can try to get to know each other?"

Tianthe stepped forward from her protective brother's side to inspect Moon more thoroughly. Any male that could potentially fly her was worthy of interest- which meant basically all males. Willow kept an eye on His but seemed more relaxed than usual in the company of the other fire lizards.
"They can." Tirasha shrugged slightly. "Although that doesn't have much to do with getting one." She obviously didn't pick up on any incincerity in Tinidor's words. "It's all just timing." A long moment passed while she considered the Candidate's question and finally Tirasha shrugged. "There's not a lot to know about me. Willow and Tianthe are probably more interesting." She gave a joking smile there; the flitts probably weren't. Especially not in her opinion.

Sameric was smiling, but at Tirasha's comment he put a hand on her shoulder. He looked her in the eyes. " Come on now! You are definately more interesting than you think."
Torimin giggled a little and leaned over to Tinidor. " You can get to know me." Moon looked over for a second and gave the impression of rolling his eyes.
The little fire-lizards were very talkative in the middle of the table and that made Sameric laugh, as well as when Uli tripped over a piece of food that was on the table and quickly picked herself back up.

Tinidor pulled back a little. "I'd take you up on that, but candidate romances are frowned on. Especially with a flight and Hatching coming up." He then teased, "When you Impress your *grass* dragon and she's all grown up, maybe then." He was not thinking she was worth no more than a grass...only that she was as flirtatious as one.
He laughed again as Uli tripped...but missed the firelizard doing his best to roll his eyes, a gesture anatomically impossible for dragon-kin, but which some of them managed to suggest nonetheless.

Torimin smiled at Tinidor. " Fair enough. You don't want to get on the wrong side of the rules, but when i do Impress," and she paused to wink, " maybe I will look you up if you Impress a male."
Her smile was sweet and so was her voice, but Sameric could tell that her flirtatious mood was dying down.
Finally, he thought.

Willow's eyes flickered a dark shade of yellow that nearly matched his bronze hide. He had already warned Sameric, he thought. Tirasha shrugged the Candidate's hand off and gave him a rueful smile. "Willow's never bitten someone before, but you're on the way to getting it, I believe," she stated. But her gaze was on the fire lizard, if he tried anything agressive she would stop him.
She laughed when she noticed Moon trying to roll his eyes, that was really an expression Willow needed to get control of... And of Uli's trip, it was when Tianthe darted in to grab the lone bit of food that Tirasha found funny. The little Grass seemed to never be full. "Hopefully you won't get a dragon as hungry as Tianthe," she said to Torimin, "supposing you really do Impress a Grass."

Tinidor laughed. "Dragons are really hungry when they hatch and eat a *lot* to start with, then it evens off." He shared his weyrbred wisdom with a grin at Torimin. "And, by the way, I was teasing. Grasses flirt a lot, though, and often pick people who flirt a lot, so you might be in danger of getting one. Fortunately, they're also great flyers."
Not that snows couldn't pull stunts a grass would shudder at, but snows were rare. He would not want a dragon that was so...feisty.

Before Torimin could speak Sameric smiled and spoke up. " Ha, don't think anything about her snarkyness Tinidor. She's just dying down a bit in her flirting is all really, she knows you were joking. Although she is in great danger of getting a Grass she flirts so much....a very fiesty Grass at that."
Torimin looked over at her brother and stuck out her tongue. Sameric smiled warmly and drank some juice. Then looked over at Willow. " Now, just because I said that she was interesting you are going to bite me little Mineral? Come now, don't be so jealous...I can pet you too." He reached over and before any danger of being bit was there began to scratch Willow's little eye ridges gently.
Uli crooned, she loved it when her pet scratched her ridges and she told the Mineral this. Moon was fond of it also.

Willow relaxed and purred softly, showing his appreciation of Sameric's scratching. Tirasha didn't know of a flitt alive that didn't enjoy having its ridges rubbed. That was probably the best way for the Candidate to get on the Mineral's good side again. Tianthe shoved her little head beneath Sameric's palm, hoping for a scratch too.
"C'mere Tianthe," Tirasha murmured, holding out her hand to her fire lizard, "you don't need to bother him." The Grass obliged, rumbling happily. "I think Grasses are one of the more exciting dragons," Tirasha commented. "If I were to Impress that's what I would want. Something small but quick." Tianthe gave a happy chirp, she was a Grass too and took her friend's words as a compliment. Not that Tirasha ever planned to try and Impress a dragon, she was happy enough as a Healer. But that would be exciting.

Tinidor considered. "Being a large and stoic guy myself, I think I'd prefer a large and stoic dragon." He grinned. "Grasses *are* great, though. I've seen some of them pull the greatest stunts."
He eyed the firelizards himself, regarding the sand and earth, then made scritching motions with his fingers. They were so cute. "So...other than dragons and firelizards, and I know, this is a Weyr, what do you guys like? I like to carve sometimes," he noted. "And I enjoy doing physical things."

Sameric smiled at the fire-lizard and then looked at Tinidor. " Well, I like to hunt...and swim. Heh, I'm really a boring guy right now but I hope to be better when I get to Impress."
Torimin rolled her eyes at her brother and sighed. " He's not as boring as he thinks, but whatever. I like to talk and meet new people. I swim too, but who doesn't really...and I like to hunt. I really like to take care of people...Mom said I would have made a great Healer, but I got Searched. Dragons are great too!"
Moon moved over to Tinidor's fingers that had moved and hit them with his head softly. The little Earth liked new people, but usually stayed near Torimin...very close to her or Sameric.

"I like swimming." Tirasha rested her chin in her palms again as Tianthe returned to Willow's side. She couldn't, at the moment, think of more things she really liked to do. Tending to the dragons could be fun, but it wasn't something that one did all the time. She couldn't cook or sew worth anything, had never really liked hunting... "Oh, and singing. Do any of you sing?"
She smiled at Torimin. "I could probably teach you something about Healing while we wait for the clutch. In my opinions all riders should know something about it." Did they already? Tirasha wasn't sure, and had never noticed anything that led to them all being taught about it. Some seemed so content to stand by and nurse their own wounds while a dragon was worked on... even though she didn't think they were supposed to do that. Tirasha knew little overall about what the riders were supposed to do except fight the Thread...

Tinidor grinned and scratched the little earth's ridges. "He's very cute." He glanced at Tirasha. "A few bits of first aid might not be bad to know. There's some things everyone should know, really, and at least the very basics..."
"And nothing wrong with wanting to hunt and swim...swimming can be fun," Tinidor mused. "Another thing *everyone* should know how to do. Swim, that is."
He supposed if you lived at Igen or somewhere, maybe you could get away with it, but he could not imagine people managing without the skill.
