" True, and we would both love to learn from you wouldn't we Sameric!" Torimin smiled at Tirasha. Moon crooned at Tinidor's scratching and his eyes went blue, the first lid closing slightly.
" Indeed we would Tirasha, first aid is a great thing to know...especially for dragon riders!" Sameric grinned. " Of course I do know a little human first aid because I was a big hunter back in Wislon."
Torimin nodded.

Tirasha nodded. "Good then." Of course, now she had to plan a time and who knew what else... maybe she could ask the Weyrwoman if healing lessons could replace one of the chores. If she were to agree then figuring that out might be easier. Candidate's hopefully already knew when to do their chores... "And it's a good that you already know a little too," she glanced fleetingly at Sameric, a quick, studying look- "previous experience definately helps in learning more."
No-one had mentioned singing, which dissapointed Tirasha. It probably meant they didn't and just dropped the subject. "Yeah, it always surprises me when I meet someone who can't swim," she agreed. "There's water not fara from anywhere here and not much excuse for now knowing..."

Tinidor, noted, "Some people are lazy. Or afraid of water. I don't think somebody who was afraid of water would do well at a Weyr, though." Certainly not as a rider.
He stretched a bit, settling back into his chair, which tipped back a little with his weight. That did not bother him, he knew he was perfectly balanced. "Me, I kind of like it, especially on a hot summer day." Would anyone else weigh in? He figured water was a better topic than healing, which might lead to, well, needing healing, which he didn't want to talk about.

Sameric and Torimin smiled at once.
" Personally, to answer a question that I seem to have overlooked Tirasha, I enjoy singing...but I don't think that I can carry a tune." Sameric grinned from ear to ear and Uli chirped.
Torimin looked wistful. " I dunno, I guess during the right mood I enjoy it too. Everyone does at Gathers." Moon had somehow ended up on her head and was comically reaching for a piece of meat he had left on the table. His tongue seemed to be sticking out.
Sameric looked over at Moon and began to chuckle while he continued to scratch Willow's eye ridges. He had obviously seen the Earth do this before.

Tirasha couldn't imagine how anyone could be afraid of water. It was something everyone drank, everyone was around at least sometime in their life. "No," she agreed, "I don't think they would." Someone afraid of water probably wouldn't do too well anywhere.
"Aw, yeah, they probably do." Tirasha's question had been more of whether the Candidate's enjoyed singing themselves, but it didn't sound excatly like that was what Torimin's answer had been about. She glanced up at Moon and smiled, something like that wasn't too odd for Tianthe but she had never seen it happen to someone else. Flitts were so cute.
Tianthe chirped up at Moon, her tone inquiring as though she was wondering what the Earth was doing up on someone's head. Willow only purred happily, enjoying Sameric's attention.

Tinidor hrmed. "I'd rather listen to other people sing. People who are, you know, good at it." Music was really not the Candidate's thing.
After a moment, he added, "I'm more a visual and physical person than a musical one. But I enjoy listening to the Harpers at Gathers and stuff." The firelizards were so utterly silly, he couldn't help but think, more than a little wryly. Dragons were...no, he was going to get his mind off of that track and keep it there. Or he would, he knew, get obsessed. Maybe he already was.

" Enough about swimming, what about hunting or something else? Does anyone else hunt...or ever been?" Sameric said.
Moon looked down on Tianthe and chirped happily at her before almost falling from his odd perch. He then decided to stop being lazy and go get the piece of food before another fire-lizard spotted it. He hopped down, gobbled up the morsel and began to chatter away at the Grass.
Uli had begun to curl up for a quick nap on the table. Sameric prodded her. " Come now, stay awake or get on back to the barracks you sleepy thing!" He grinned at his pet. She on the other hand nipped at him before taking off out the window and apparently popping between to the barracks.
Torimin sighed. " Sameric loves to hunt you two."

Tirasha shrugged. "Tianthe likes to hunt bugs." Willow seemed to think himself above that, or else he just didn't like leaving her shoulder just to chase and catch something that didn't, overall, taste very good. "But I don't really." Nothing much more to say about that subject... Tirasha didn't like killing things. Just one of the reasons why she was a healer rather than a hunter. Although she couldn't deny that things didn't die in her profession, but at least it wasn't her fault.
Tianthe bounced after Moon, she had apparently taken to the Earth pretty quickly. When the flitt ate the forgotten morsel of food she gave a light snort, seeming annoyed that he hadn't shared with her, but the feeling quickly passed. Settling on her haunches, Tianthe cheerfully joined in with Moon's noisy chatter.
Willow gave a soft trill and trotted away from Sameric, returning to his usual perch on Tirasha's shoulder. He hummed softly as he rested his head on her thin chest and wrapped his tail around her neck, the position he seemed to like best for simply observing. Tirasha ran a bony finger absently along the fire lizard's thin tail while she waited for the Candidates' next comments.

Tinidor hrmed. "Never done much hunting, no, except tunnelsnakes, and that doesn't really count. That's just getting rid of vermin." He shrugged a bit. "We occasionally get a problem with them in stores. Not too often, though, and one of the lower caverns workers has a canine that loves to kill any it can find."
He shrugged a bit. "I don't mind trying anything, though." He wasn't lacking for courage, that was for sure. "So...anyone do anything with sketching?"

Sameric smiled over at Tirasha and Willow. He loved to see animals that were pets, like fire-lizards, and their owners get along very well. Uli hop-skipped over to him and gurgled at him. He petted her and scratched her, getting waves of happiness from His Sand.
Torimin also smiled, but at Moon and Tianthe's prattling. Moon liked this Grass, she was spunky and fun. He hopped around her and landed on all fours in front of her, chirping happily. Torimin laughed out loud at Moon's funny antics.
" I was never that artistic Tinidor, never really sat down long enough to hone any sketching skills." Sameric smiled.
" I sketch a little, but I'm not that good! I enjoy other things though....like...I guess weaving a little, and just having any kind of fun!" She kind of looked over at Tinidor when she spoke of fun, causing Sameric to go into a coughing/laughing fit.

"Sketching? Not without a reference." Tirasha smiled sheepishly. "And even then it's not that good." Willow was about the only thing Tirasha ever drew- Tianthe couldn't hold still long enough for the Healer to jot down whatever pose the Grass had taken up, but the Mineral was happy to sit still. Overall though, Tirasha didn't draw much at all. She had never seen much point in it- occasionally an itch would arise in her fingers that couldn't be sated unless she drew something, but that was rare. Singing was much easier- one didn't need any supplies- and more enjoyable than drawing.
Tianthe made a soft gurgling/hrrring noise- probably the equivilent to a fire lizard giggling- as Moon leapt in front of her. Twisting with the usual agility of a Grass, she bounced to the left, giving her tail a playful come-and-get-me sort of flick. Games of chase were Tianthe's favorite, although usually her only players were dragonflies.
Tirasha glanced at Torimin, her expression bordering on disgusted and sighed softly. Willow, coming up with his own game, mimicked her as best a fire lizard could. Tinidor was probably right- that girl definately seemed on the track for a Grass dragon.

Tinidor caught that and blushed scarlet. Not that she wasn't cute, but yeah. Grassrider material, right there. He forced his attention to the playing firelizards. He had no need to pretend anything was interesting with such a distraction available. "I like fun too, but I think we do need to play by the...umm...rules."
Which he had. Mostly. When he had a dragon and it was old enough. If he Impressed the earth he wanted...he certainly wouldn't hold it back from chasing her grass. If his guess was right. The boy...earth or sea. Maybe forest...maybe.

Torimin grinned as Tinidor blushed. She loved to make people blush! She also looked over at the playing fire-lizards and smiled at Moon.
" Ok, but when my dragon Flies...it'll be new rules." She said off-handedly.
Moon chirped happily and hopped after the Grass. His tail was wagging back and forth in immitation of a canine, or that was what it seemed like. Uli watched her brother with a half bewildered look on her face, this was only the second time he had played with another fire-lizard....she was curious.
Sameric petted his beauty and smiled at the two playing. " Heh, he usually just goes to sleep."

Tirasha smiled slightly, reminding herself that she wasn't that much older than any of these Candidates although she felt like she was. The Healer had never exchanged that sort of banter; perhaps that made the difference.
Tianthe gave a happy trill as Moon hopped after her. The Grass never felt like she got enough games in- and she probably didn't, Tirasha usually was able to keep her fire lizards fairly busy and Tianthe was the only one who really took advantage of free time like this. Her little legs carried her quickly around the table, Tianthe paused briefly to chirp to Uli and invite her to play too.
Willow only watched- if Tianthe were to invite him to play (which she hadn't, as yet) there was a small chance he might, but he preferred sitting on Tirasha's shoulder.
Tirasha didn't mind Willow staying where he was, so used to his presence as she was, the Healer often preferred him there. "Really? I guess he must like Tianthe then." She watched the flitts fondly, wondering when the little Grass would rise again.

Tinidor grinned. "Assuming you Impress a female and I Impress a male...I wouldn't hold my dragon back from chasing any female he wanted, much less one with a cute rider."
True, he'd rather not sleep with a guy, but that was part of being a rider. *He* could Impress a female dragon, for that matter, it certainly happened. It did not mean, always, that the guy chosen preferred other guys. He would rather not ride a grass, but if that was his fate...they were, at least, quick and agile.

" Hmmm...yes I suppose. Well then we can hope that I Impress a female and that the male that catches her has a cute rider, right?" Torimin smiled.
Moon happily chased after the Grass and grabbed at her tail. He was enjoying himself, and he rarely played with any fire-lizard other than Uli. Upon being invited in Uli jumped onto Moon's back and fell off the side, getting up to chase after the both of the other fire-lizards.
" It would seem he does like her. Uli approves too." Sameric grinned at Tirasha and laughed softly.

Tianthe flicked her tail out of the Earth's way just in time to avoid it being caught. Her squawk of surprise and the fact that she tripped abruptly right then proved that she really hadn't expected Moon to have gotten so close though, her escape had only been chance. Quickly righting herself, Tianthe bounded forwards again.
Willow made a shushing sort of noise and shifted his position so that his head lay more parallel with Tirasha's shoulder than perpendicular. While listening to the Candidates the Healer ran a finger over the Mineral's head and he hummed appreciatively. Tirasha watched with her lips tight, holding back whatever comment had popped into her head.
"That's good." Tirasha smiled slightly. "Tianthe loves to make friends." She gave Willow a sideways, teasing look. The Mineral should play with them too. But he remained stubbornly where he was.

Tinidor chuckled. "Or the other way around...you could get a sea or a snow." He privately thought that unlikely. She was too *girl* for a male dragon. But surprises had happened. "But yeah."
He still figured her as the next grassrider troublemaker and her brother for earth or sea. Sometimes, the new colors, though, threw him off. "So..." He couldn't resist, mischievously. "What if your dragon's flown by one ridden by a cute *girl*?"

She looked at Tinidor quizzically for a second before answering shyly. " Well, then we may have a little fun too." She blushed this time.
Sameric smiled and continued to watch the fire-lizards play. Moon gurgled and hopped after Tianthe after she regained her footing and Uli was right after her brother.
He looked over at Tirasha, she really wasn't that much older than any of them. " Ever thought of Impressing Tirasha? You're still young enough, I'm sure. You would be great for a dragon rider." He smiled politely at Willow, " Not that you aren't happy with your flitters."

Tirasha shook her head violently. "No, I couldn't Impress..." Her face turned slightly pink, how embarrassing to be scared of flying in when she lived in a Weyr... But the ground was much safer. Yes, she was perfectly happy running around from here to there and occasionally convincing her flitts to run errands for her. "Willow and Tianthe are plenty enough for me." And could she imagine listening to her own dragon bellow and trumpet? And if her dragon were to ever fly or chase, depending on what it ended up being... she wouldn't want that. And, like Tinidor had just mentioned, if the dragon who caught or that her dragon caught had a rider who was female... no, Tirasha didn't think she could take that.
Tianthe twisted around and dove between Moon and Uli, chirping excitedly and flapping her wings although she remained on the table to pick up speed. This was a fun game indeed. Willow finally slipped off Tirasha's shoulder to join in the chase too, although he sort of gallumphed along in the back, not meaning to catch up to his sister. The Mineral simply didn't want to be left out of the fun.
