It had been a hectic two weeks for S'ric. Impression meant that he had to move out of the Candidate Barracks and into the Weyrling Barracks. Not so tough...unless you have a basin full of 14 fire-lizard eggs!
Yes, Uli had laid her eggs...on the same day as Lilith's Hatching. S'ric had trusted her in caring for them because he now had Abioyeth to take care of and feed almost constantly. He was glad that Uli was so motherly, except for when they had had to move the basin to the Weyrling Barracks.
The fire-place in the commons area was bigger, so that was where they were...and Uli. S'ric finished washing off the blood from Abioyeth's most current meal and smiled. He went to go check on Uli and was all of a sudden assaulted by thoughts from Uli of her eggs hatching.
S'ric rushed into action. " Abioyeth!! Please, tell all the dragons to alert everyone they can that Uli's fourteen eggs are Hatching! Tell them to bring meat! Someone to bring meat!"
Abioyeth lifted his sleepy head and gurgled in happiness at new baby little cousins. Everyone. Mine says to tell you to tell Yours that Uli's eggs are Hatching! Bring meat please. When he was finished, he laid his head back down.
S'ric ran back to the side of the basin. He was excited for Uli and himself.

Mine, KayMine! Nobleth turned her hindquarters distractedly away from Kay so that she could face her to tell her the news. Abioyeth says that his Mine's fire-lizard's eggs are hatching! Are you going?
"Maybe when I finish oiling you, hmm?" Kay knee-walked within reach of Nobleth's thighs and started again.
Oh, you are not done? But they might all be hatched by the time you get there! And I could go too and you could finish, they are only in the commons. That's not far away.
"You can come, but I'm going to finish first."
Nobleth squirmed impatiently as Kay finished oiling the little Snow- luckily there wasn't much left to do. Arrow was little help, he had been even more silent than before since Kay had Impressed. She was worried he felt ignored because she was paying so much attention to the dragon hatchling. Would another fire-lizard friend be any help? She could take a chance... there was plenty of food around for Nobleth, it shouldn't be hard to keep a flitt hatchling fed, and hopefully Arrow would help...
"Okay, there." Kay dropped the rag she had been using back into the oil bucket with a note of finality. Arrow hopped onto her shoulder, chirping curiously. "You sure you want to come? I don't know if S'ric would want you at the Hatching... or Uli for that matter."
But I have never seen a firelizard hatching, and Arrow will never have one! Nobleth cried pleadingly. Kay sighed but nodded and they hurried to the fireplace where the basin of Uli's eggs waited.
"Hey S'ric; Nobleth tells me the eggs are hatching?" On her shoulder, Arrow began to hum and Nobleth leaned forward to peer at the eggs curiously, wondering why they were so little. Hadn't her egg been very much bigger?

Oh, Zenmine, please hurry up! Lilith called into the Weyr. Zenniel never had any peace and quite (and she'd like it to stay that way). In this particular scenario, Zenniel was changing clothes, as the ones she had been wearing previously were all wet and the ones she was going to change into were... not. She quickly shrugged back into her boots while asking What's the matter?
Oh, it's so wonderful! The small-dragon's eggs hatch! Lilith crooned lightly, and Zenniel wondered who the 'small-dragon' was. Until she remembered S'ric proudly saying that Uli had clutched the same day Lilith's eggs had hatched. Oh, how exciting! Zenniel threw on her wherehide jacket and literally flew to her dragon. Xiri and Cree were already waiting, Xiri on Lilith's head and Cree on one of her haunches. Zenniel vaulted onto Lilith's gigantic back and said, "Where?"
The Weyrling Common Room. I cannot go in, but you can. Go Impress another small-dragon for me! Lilith's eyes shone in multicolored hues and Zenniel laughed good-naturedly as Lilith swooped low near the Weyrling Barracks. Once the mammoth Sunshine landed Zenniel hopped off (aided by Lilith's powerful foreleg) and walked almost serenely into the Barracks. You know, I'm not going to Impress anything The woman thought to her dragon. A Weyrwoman has to be there during all Hatchings, dragon or not. Lilith just snorted.
Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine! If Baltizath could fit that many mines out during normal speech, Kella didn't think he would have had time to breath. Yes, Baltizath? Mine, there's little eggies hatching! Kelladren snorted. I already have you, Baltizath! No, not you, mine! Little fire-lizards! Aren't you content with Blazer and Mirr?
As a result of that question, Baltizath pushed his head into Kelladren's small of the back (or lower back for all you... err... people). Never can have too many, Mine! For once (in forever) Baltizath was not shy or angry or anything... he just was. Hurry! Oh for shards sake! Kelladren cried, and if she could have made a sound she would have made an explosive sigh.
But both arrived at the Weyrling Barracks ontime, and both looked extremely happy. "Hello, S'ric. I hear (from Lilith of course) that the eggs are hatching." And to Abioyeth, Kelladren says hello to S'ric and you. I say hello to the eggs! Tell them to hatch! Said Baltizath.

Fennore was disturbed from finishing oiling her gold precious by a hum. Which Kia, and then Talaith took up. "Whaat...oh!"
Firelizards. Hatch. Now. Talaith explained, as usual using words as if she...or her rider...had to pay a mark or two for each one.
Fennore laughed. "You don't think two queens is enough for me?"
I can't boss another queen around Talaith enjoined, humor in the gold's tones.
"Oh, come on, you just want to see them." With Kia on her shoulder and humming very loudly precisely in her ear she made her way towards the common room, where both sunshines were very determined she would go.
Meanwhile, T'dor was just admiring Emperoth...who was asleep. He had still not quite gotten over Impressing a ranking dragon when he had expected an earth at best. It was, in fact, Rock who got his attention. The young earth, only a bit older than his rider's lifemate, had actually been in the common room. Now he flicked out of between close enough that T'dor felt the blast of cold air.
"Rock, airspace!"
Chittering was interspersed with humming and an image of the common room. "What, you want a friend?"
Chitterhum! was the only response, and the image of the common room with more urgency. "I give." Rock settled to T'dor's shoulder as he headed for the common room.
Emperoth, as lazy as any storm cloud, was still asleep.

Kelilath thought to Kafra, There are flits to impress hurry, hurry! Kelilath ran around Kafra a couple of time before stopping and looking quite comical she thought, Now what did I want you to do?
Kafra smiled and thought back, We are going to get a flit friend. Kafra did love her Kelilath, but she sure was a handful. Kafra walked toward the common room where the flit eggs were.
Kelilath quickly cried out in joy, Yea, I get a flit friend!
Kafra smiled and grabbed a little piece of meat from a bucket that was nearby. Going over, she waited as Kelilath exuberantly exclaimed in her mind about the fact that they would have a flit friend.

J'don
J'don was attempting to take a nap after a very long day when Sargonth nudged him awake. Mine, there are tiny dragon things hatching, do you want one?[/i][/color]
"Hmm?" J'don yawned and sat up, rubbing his eyes. It took his groggy mind a minute to realize that Sargonth meant firelizards. "Oh, yeah, I do." He hadn't Impressed at Xiri's clutch, and he was still interested in a firelizard. Sargonth was everything to him, but maybe the Snow would enjoy some companionship, too.
"Come on, let's go." He led the little Snow to the common room, where they joined the group of weyrlings (and one Weyrwoman) gathered around the clutch. J'don took some of the meat and waited for the first eggs to hatch, wondering if he would impress one this time.

S'ric looked up from the basin. " Ah, good. Thank you Tori...I knew someone would bring meat for everyone."
" Hmm, yes well when your new dragon excitedly tells you to bring meat to a little egg hatching before she falls into a deep sleep...you do it." Tori smiled at her brother. " Think they will all hatch?"
" Hope so, Uli's been a great mother." S'ric said happily. Then he looked up as people began to come in.
" Ah, hello Kay! Yes they are about to...gather some meat and come on!" He said to her.
Then, almost simultaneously, " Good day Weyrwoman! Hello Kella!" He grinned from ear to ear. " Hey there Fennore!"
" Come to take me up on my offer T'dor? Well if you can get one, be my guest!" S'ric liked to greet everyone. " Ah, Kafra and J'don! Come on and try your hand at Impressing one of these beauties!"
I'ac came in and saw that there were eggs about to hatch. He had always wanted a fire-lizard, but now he had a dragon! Still no harm in trying to get a small form of a dragon to keep Coronth company was there?

The flitter had constantly be found with either his mate and their eggs, or stealing food in the kitchens to bring back to Uli. Today had been one of those day, the flitter zooming out of the Lower Caverns with meatrolls deply clutched in his clawed front paws and mouth. Behind the headwoman screamed, though by the time she had exited the chambers Skitt had already gone /between/.
Appearing over Reishy he chattered excitedly, though if it was due to having bested the Headwoman again or that his eggs were hatching... Well, we might never know. Upon seeing his Keeper still slept, he became irritated, allowing the meatrolls he carried to slap her in the face when they were released.
"Gah! Skitt, what i s wrong with you, you little--" Mine! Mine! Skitt and Uli's eggs are hatching! Abioyeth calls us! "Huh? So that's why... Ok, ok, I'm going! Shouldn't you be with Uli, anyway?"
With a surprised chirp the firelziard went between, appearing close to his mate as he crooned lovingly, before settling down. His eyes whirled in anticipation, watching the twitching eggs expectantly. Hi-- no, Their eggs were hatching!
Reishy had appeared by then, a sleepy look still crowding her eyes lightly. With a yawn she nodded in greetings to S'ric and who ever else was there already, plopping down to sit close to the basin as well. The meatrolls Skitt had tossed in her room had been gathered, now in a small plate while Rush devoured one of them for breakfeast.
"Morning."
Tiarath also followed, her hide shifting and causing illusions of mud slides as she went. Outside she crooned softly, greeting the behemoth that was her mother and nuzzling her leg fondly, before going in. She gave a happy greeting to Abioyeth, Nobleth, Baltizath, Taliath, Emperoth, Kelilath and Sargonth before the Sand lied close to Hers. The rather ugly look of her hide, or so many people rumored since her hatching, would have made one thing that the dragonet would be scared of socializing -- let alone going out -- but it was evident that Tiarath did not let that factor get in the way of her life. She actually found her unique mud-like design of her hide to be quite pretty -- and Hers always agreed.
---
F'ral had been awake since early morning, so when he came into the common room the male's dragonet sported an oily sheen -- evidence he had just been fed, cleaned and oiled. His Grass and Sand were on his shoulders, the smaller Sand still fast asleep while Mirage was content to just watch for now. He gave a greeting to those present, and a congratulations to S'ric and Uli -- as well to his sister and her Skitt. The reddish hued Mineral was still outside, greeting his mother politely, before he joined the others inside.
A corteous nod was given to queen Taliath, though the others received normal greetings. With each step the dragonet carried himself straight and with his head held high -- apparently trying to make everyone remember that he was a Mineral -- and one of the largest dragonets in his clutch -- and that they would do well not to mess around with his gorgeous and unique reddish hide.

As the eggs began to rock more violently, a few cracked slightly. It seemed that one of the cracking ones was going to be the first to hatch, they were shaking so hard.
A solid egg shattered on the other side of the basin. The Blue fire-lizard stood up and shook a little goo off of its wings. He chittered up at Uli and walked around the basin...not yet ready to look for food. He was wondering why all these eggs were rocking back and forth.
This cracked egg was in the middle of the basin, and it split sideways so that the fire-lizard hatchling inside stood up with half a shell on her head. She cheeped and wiggled around until it fell off, and she tripped over the other half of her shell. The little Sand chirped frightenedly and then took off to land right on Kelladren's foot.
The Sand chirped at Kella food? and Impressed to her.

Kelladren was... surprised. She had come just to see one of her Weyr'siblings's fire-lizard's eggs hatch. Now, of course, one Impressed to her. That one was one of the first two to hatch, and the first one to Impress. That one was a small Sand. And Kella was surprised.
Of course, no name came to mind, seeing as dear little Blazer and even littler Mirr (since she herself was still very much a hatchling) had nothing in common when it came to names. So, going with the tradition of the names being completely random---Rhiannon! What the shards? Oh, it was Baltizath. Her momentary... err... moment of alarm was broken when Baltizath crooned in her 'ear' This little one looks like a Rhiannon. How Baltizath got that name, the poor girl wouldn't know, but Rhiannon it was. And Rhiannon was hungry.
As Kelladren moved away from the small group and fed the small Sand (Blazer and Mirr wanting the food, too, of course), Baltizath asked, What did you want to name it? Kelladren's face came with a small smile as she said, I wanted to name Rhiannon Talitha. But Rhiannon stuck with the little Sand.

Nobleth arched her head close to the basin, watching the wobbling eggs curiously and humming with a volume to contest that feeling. Kay leaned forward a little too, she had only seen Arrow hatch, not a whole clutch of eggs. The Forest flitt, meanwhile, popped briefly between to grab a few meatrolls for Kay to feed to a young fire-lizard in case it Impressed her, and then disappeared. He still was feeling very bad about losing Uli's flight and didn't want to attend her egg's hatching- especially since her mate had arrived now.
When will they all hatch? Nobleth asked impatiently. Only two so far? Why don't they hurry?
You took longer you know, Kay chided, smiling.

Fyrai grumbled as Ashtenerath faithfully relayed the comment that there was a fire-lizard hatching going on. I am not getting up and going to a sharding fire lizard hatching. I am comfortable here, and I have no wish to move.
The sand relayed a mental snicker, to which the blonde replied to by sticking out her tongue. She was not getting up. Lin, perched on Fyrai's sholder hummed softly but made no attempt to make the woman move. She was very firm on the fact she was NOT moving from where she sat reading. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setoya on the other hand, was very happy to hear about the flitter clutch. She'd missed Xiri's. It wasn't her fault! Honestly! It was just that she'd been locked into her room and couldn't remember how to get out! It was the locks fault! Uhunh. Absolutely.
So she wandered in, and while she noticed she was kinda late, she didn't care. She was always late. For her, being on time was a miracle. Oooh, it was a sand! And there was a Sea! Oh, but she already had Fury so why would she want another sea? Exactly. And the Sand was already Impressed, so she'd wait.
Calm down Setoya-mine-love. You make my head hurt.[/b] That was Tantieth, trailing slowly behind her bouncy human. The contrast was instantly obvious. While Setoya was bouncing around and her thoughts were going a mile a second, if thoughts could travel at any speed over any distance, Tantieth was relaxed, trailing Hers with a resigned expression on her face and a much slower rate of thought.

The first to hatch was a Sea, and Skitt thrilled eagerly and with clear pride. A Sea, just like he was! Next came a Sand, so cute and funny that it reminded the flitter of her mother. The Sea crooned happily, nuzzling Uli fondly, before continuing to watch on. His little daighter had alreayd impressed, but his first born son was still lingering around. No matter, he would have enough time to impress.
Reishy remained with Tiarath, scratching the dragonet's eyeridge softly as they both watched on quietly. The plate with meatrolls was next to her, forgotten while Rush continued to nibble on them. He was still a hatchling, though the Forest was growing at an alarming rate. Good thing there were more meatrolls that he could ever eat in that plate.
---------------
F'ral also watched, though he was with the rest of the group as he sat, a few meatrolls on his hand. He wasn't really extremely keen on impressing fire lizards yet again -- but his Amirth had wanted to see how he had gotten Mirage and Tumble to begin with, and the Journeyman Weaver had easily complied.

The first little Blue looked around and crooned finally for food. He spotted someone with two fire-lizards. They would know how to feed this hungry belly! The Blue stumbled out of the basin and hopped over to claw at F'ral's leg. Need...food...?!
The Blue had Impressed!
At the exact moment the Blue Impressed another egg shattered. This one held a very small Grass hatchling. She looked around with wide, glowing eyes and chirped. She was so hungry...and there were meatrolls on a plate!
She shook herself dry of the egg-goo and flew the small distance to the plate, but landed on a lap. She looked up into Kay's face and pleaded...Share food?...looks like Kay has Arrow a new friend.
As it so happened, the next egg shook so violently that it rolled out of the basin onto the floor. The hit onto the floor caused the egg to shatter and produce a Grass hatchling that was oddly large, especially compared to the very small one that had just hatched. This one though was a little shocked from hitting the floor and just walked around chirping happily, not quite ready...or right in the head yet...to Impress.
S'ric looked over at Reishy and smiled. He motioned for her to come over to him, just as the egg fell out of the basin. He cringed, but was glad that the hatchling was ok. He really hadn't had a chance to talk to Reishy since they had first met...not even when Skitt had Flown Uli had he seen her.

Look Mine, look! She found you! Nobleth turned from staring into the basin to admire the tiny Grass that had just landed in Kay's lap. The girl immediately held out a meatroll to the little thing, who began munching away with a voracity much stronger than her size might make one think she could manage.
What will you call her? Transfixed by the Grass who had also chosen to Impress Kay, Nobleth's head loomed even closer to the hatchling. The Grass clutched her meatroll protectively and chirped around a mouthful of food to Kay for help.
Let her be, we'll think of one, Kay chided the dragonet. Nobleth inched back but continued to stare at the fire-lizard with curiously whirling eyes. What had caused it to choose Kay too? And what would its name be? Why didn't flitts tell Theirs what their name was? It was rather confusing.
Why not... Blade? Like a blade of grass. She's little enough. Kay laughed softly. Nobleth considered the name for a bit and then gurgled to show she liked it too. So Blade the little Grass became.

F'ral was surprised, yes, but the man was also slightly dissapointed. He could only hope this little Sea would not chase after Mirage of Tumble when they grew. Still, the way he moved and came to him was endearing, and the male could simply not reject the hatchling. He begun to feed the little Sea, all the time thinking for a name...
"Mmm... I think Veir would be suiting. It reminds me of that Sea that chased Lilith."
The Mineral crooned, clearly amused by the hatching so far, and Amirth watched as His fed the little flitter.
Saich had just entered the Weyrling common room, though Z'or had not come along this time. He was still with Veiruth, the Sea still seemed lightly depressed about his lost in Lilith's flight. Still, he was healing well -- though for some reason the Sea refused to try and fly yet. Quietly she took a seat close to Zenniel, nodding in greetings to teh Weyrwoman. Her bright Mineral wa son her shoulder, watching the hatchlings that scrambled around with curiosity.
Noticing S'ric's motion, the female moved over to where he was, Tiarath following as she lied besides Hers once more, The red-head continued to scratch her dragonet softly, receiving content croons from the Sand.
"Not a bad clutch, eh?"
The female grinned, continuing to watch the eggs as they hatched. Most were really low ranked, but that was to be expected. After all, Skitt was a low rank himself, even if Uli was higher up in the rank scale. Still, the Sea seemed so proud of his offspring, and so Reishy was proud too.

S'ric was glad that Reishy came over to sit by him. " Yes it's a fair clutch. Really all that matters is that Uli and Skitt are happy though." He smiled as he looked at the two fire-lizards crooning and cuddling with each other.
" Your little Sand has an odd coloration, like mud. It's cute." He whispered to her, offering the little Sand dragon a meat-roll that he had left over from his hurried breakfast this morning.
Another egg in the middle of the basin cracked a few times, shook, stopped, shook, and then finally cracked open four different ways.
A normal sized Storm Cloud stood in the remains of her shell, chirping happily. She seemed very happy for a Storm Cloud, maybe that was because she was finally out of that little egg, or she was an odd one.
She roamed over in the direction of S'ric and Reishy, stopping at the edge of the basin. Not quite hungry enough to seek out food though or not wanting to Impress...she simply sat down on the sands in the basin where she was, looking around her and blinking.

Kafra waited patiently for an egg. Kelilath had just gone back to her couch to sleep, having worn herself out in the joy of maybe having a flit friend. Kafra just smiled as each impressed. She couldn't wait to have her own flit, like Kelilath had said, it would be fun to have a little friend.

J'don smiled to return S'ric's greeting, but he did not reply as the eggs were already hatching. Beside him, Sargonth stretched his neck up to get a better view of the little firelizards. Look, mine! A mini Sea and Sand. They are so cute! The Snow exclaimed, his eyes whirling in excitement as he watched the firelizards stumble around looking for bondeds.
"They sure are," J'don agreed, watching as a Grass and Storm Cloud hatched. He felt himself relax as the firelizard's tiny, happy feelings filled the area. This was a nice change from the absolute emotional chaos of the dragon Hatching.

Setoya fidgeted, boredly shredding the meatrolls she held. The peices fell onto a square of cloth that she'd placed with an unusual amount of foresight. Her thoughts were now focused on how bored she was, and Tantieth gave a soft sigh. When she had been thinking a mile a second about many things it had given the Storm Cloud a headache.
Setoya-mine, why do you want another flitter-lizard? You already have two.[/b]
"They be funs Tantieth. They is lots of funness, and they can sing." Setoya's syntax and wording had grown very strange in the moments she'd been sitting there. She was watching the unImpressed grass with keen interest, but also a sort of distractedness that was trademark for her.
