Name: R’keh
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Rank: Grass Rider
About the Person
Physical appearance: R’keh is somewhat on the small side, rather like his dragon, and has a thin, almost slender build. His legs seem a bit long compared to his torso, something that has never bothered him but simply makes him look a little odd. Usually R’keh is caught wearing clothes with more natural colors, but when Amirinth is nearing a flight he tends to find something brighter to wear.
R’keh’s eyes are a light brown, like klah with a lot of cream in it. They also seem walled off, reflecting all around him rather than showing is feelings. The rest of his face is sharp-featured, with a narrow nose, thin lips, and ears that are almost flat to his head. His hair is almost the same shade of brown as his eyes, and would be thick but he usually cuts it short.
Personality: R’keh has a fairly easygoing personality, although he can be a little reserved at times; but some good wine can usually loosen him up. It does not take a lot to get on R’keh’s nerves, but he still usually hides any anger he feels. His voice is soft and has a sort of gruff, husky tone.
R’keh does like to talk and be in the company of others. That has been a change over his past ten years with Amirinth though, probably brought out by her boisterous personality. He has never been one to build close relationships with people though, and has no Weyrmate or intimate friends. (This is probably also influenced by Amirinth’s very random pick of dragons during her flights, it has been different every time.) Company is fine, but it is always temporary with him.
Historical Facts:
Family: R’tor-father-Sea Rider-deceased; Tyrakeh-mother-49-Weyrfolk
Pets: Sand Flitt Nip
Appearance: Nip's hide is the usual sandy-dirt color, speckled frequently with black. These flecks are especially dense on her muzzle, making it seem darker than the rest of her body. At it's tip it really does seem to be totally black. A mid-sized Sand, once she is grown up Nip will probably be around 34 centimeters long.
Personality: Nip, reminiscent of her name, seems to enjoy injuring people. So far she seems extremely impatient and easily angered- anger bringing injury to whoever she happens to be with. But like all newborn Sands, her personality is sure to waver. Hopefully for R'keh she'll end up being nicer than she is right now.
History: Life for R’keh began like many others at the Weyr, just an exciting night between one of the women from the Lower Caverns and his father. While he was still young, R’keh’s father was killed in a bad accident with Thread- his Blue had not noticed a particularly large clump falling in a blind spot behind his head. R’tor noticed but his dragon was not quick enough at flashing between. The spores burned through the human’s arm and the right side of his chest and along the base of the dragon’s neck.
Having been fostered off at an early age, R’keh had not paid much attention to the news. He didn’t know the rider had been his father.
R’keh had always been a little shy around others and did not have a lot of friends growing up. He spent a lot of time by himself, watching dragons or snitching food from the kitchens for a small snack. Cursed with a talent of somehow missing meals, snacks were basically what he had grown up on, resulting in R’keh’s thin build.
Like many young boys, R’keh’s dream was to be a mighty dragonrider. He had always dreamed of having an Earth, having viewed them as the wisest and most dependable dragons. Once he was of age, the boy put himself on the sands. Although he got an early start, it took three more years for a dragon to finally decide that R’keh was the human for it. And this dragon was no mighty Earth.
Instead, a tiny green dragonet squirmed out of her egg, stumbled across the sands, and collapsed in front of him. Rolling over onto her back, belly displayed, she endearingly said, Just look at how thin this belly is, my R’keh. Amirinth would truly appreciate it if you could help her to fill it.
R’keh was sorely disappointed, but did as the dragon asked. And despite his early displeasure with the Grass, Amirinth quickly grew on him. She was small, but quick and lithe. They passed through being weyrlings with flying colors.
For Dragonriders
Name of Dragon: Amirinth
Age of Dragon: 10
Color of Dragon: Grass
Appearance of Dragon: Amirinth is one of the smallest Grasses, barely even reaching 20 meters in length. Her hide is a very dark green, like the underside of a well-shaded leaf in summer. Amirinth’s head is a little on the big side, although not oversized enough to really be noticed, except for the fact that it and her throat always seem to demand a little extra oiling.
Personality: A very excitable dragon, Amirinth always seems to have energy to spare and often makes use of it. Being caught sleeping in her weyr is almost an equivalent to a blasphemy in the dragon’s opinion. She is almost always up and moving, whether her current occupation is hunting, flying, or just pacing back and forth.
She flies about every three months, and of all the years that she has flown, has never picked the same dragon to fly her twice. Mercurial and quick in her decisions, she doesn’t usually put a lot of thought into what she does. Her goal seems to simply be to sate her endless curiosity.
Although she is usually easy distracted, when fighting Thread Amirinth can, with R’keh’s help, focus on doing that. She is a master at avoiding getting hit by clumps and although not totally accurate with her flame, does her best. If only her stamina were more like that of an Earth she imagines she would be the ultimate Thread-fighting dragon.
