Sameric was awakened by the frantic squawking of Uli.
She obviously just wanted to wake him before she went about to do whatever she wanted. It was nearing early-mid-morning and Hers needed to be up anyway. Yet this day wasn't going to start with looking at the chore list...Uli was about to Fly.
She flew around his head a few times then right out the Candidate Barracks door, giving him no time at all to follow. He quickly dragged on a shirt as he ran out to the lawn near the lake. He saw her hovering, perhaps waiting for contenders or waiting for him because as soon as she saw him (or so he thought) she shot into the sky.
Uli was planning on having fun in her maiden Flight. She was going to choose a very special fire-lizard...nothing less would do. She simply shot up at first and then straightened out to glide around and survey everything that was Hers for now. Through purple and pink dotted eyes She could make out the person that was Hers and a few others that were making their way over to see Her Flight!!

Another day, more cho-
"Skitt?! Get off my furs! Shoo, you little blue, shoo!"
The Candidate flailed in her bed, trying to shake of the fireliard that kept running around every inch of fabric, chirping rather loudly. Great, noe every other girl in the barracks had a morning alarm, apparently. Finally she managed to shake him, the flitt now hovering in the air as he chirped again, his eyes whirling with pinks and purples.
"Oh, you silly little thing. I've told you there's no need to ask me for permission. Just go out and chase if you want!"
He landed on her shoulder, giving an insecure thrill, before the female reassured him with a pet and a soft kiss on his small head. Rush had just woken up, startled and confused as he watched on. In a flash the blue was out of the barracks, and soon had spotted the Sand. He thrilled, though the notes wavered lightly in uncertainty. The shy little thing, he wasn't even fully sure if he should be chasing. But he had met Uli before, and she seemed ok.. Surely she would allow him to stay and try?
"Come on, Rush, time for breakfast. Never mind Skitt, he's just out doing grow-up things."
The forest gave a chirp, still quite confused, though he soon forgot about it at the sound of food.

Willow creeled excitedly, staring out the window of Tirasha's room and flexing his wings. Purples and pinks speckled his eyes, purple quickly beginning to dominate. Tianthe hopped off of Tirasha's shoulder to land on the windowsill beside the little Mineral, a hum rumbling up from her throat. She him an encouraging nudge- their relationship was very brother-sister despite the fact that most fire-lizards seemed to pay attention to how one was related.
Willow tilted his head backwards to glance at Tirasha and then took off out the window. No, he would waste no time past the quick alert that he planned to chase today. He liked this Sand. Tirasha laughed and stroked Tianthe as she watched the Mineral fly away. Willow didn't chase much, it was good to see him taking another try at it.
"Shall we go watch or get some breakfast?" She looked down quizzically at Tianthe. The little Grass only gurgled happily and hopped onto Tirasha's head.

Arrow clutched Kay's shoulder tightly, purple tinging his eyes but his expression and position overall uncertain. Kay recognized this- there had been several other times when he had been around when a fire-lizard flew. She had given him the choice to try every time, and he had always finally decided to stick with her.
"Will you chase today, little love?" She asked, tickling the flitt under his chin. Arrow gurgled. He didn't know if he wanted to or not- things were so different here and His seemed to want him to change. But he didn't know if he wanted to leave her to chase after another flitt. What would that accomplish?
"Oh, go on Arrow," Kay urged. "You'll have fun! Even if you don't catch, won't it be exciting to be flying around with all those other fire-lizards?" She nudged him off her shoulder but he clung stubbornly to Kay's wrist, wings half-open. She threw her hand up and Arrow squawked with surprise, releasing his grip on her to avoid tearing Kay's skin. "Go on!" Kay laughed and made shooing motions with her hands. Arrow crooned to her, reluctant, but finally took off to find the Sand.

Since right now all of Zen's huuuuge posting skills are needed for her pwnsome 'choosing who wins Lilith' post, Zen will say that Cree and Blazer will each Fly.
Cree, who had already Flown Xiri, thought it would be fun to Fly the sand. Uli was nice, but Xiri was better, and Cree didn't expect to win. Blazer, who had never Flown in his life, decided it was now or never, so he gave chase.
(( Note, my other posts will be longer than this... and i may rewrite this one in the near future... but it gets my point across for now. ))

She had been gliding for just a moment when the first of the contenders arrived. She did a loop in the air, it was that Reishy-girl's Sea! He was coming, followed closely by Willow...and a Forest, not too far off came another Mineral and Sea. Quick questions to Hers gave her names...Arrow, Cree, and Blazer.
They were all fine ones, yet She would never be caught easily...no never. She began to do a maze-like flight pattern through the thin woods around the place She found herself. Come She told them all simply, her eyes pure purple now.
A croon escaped her mouth, a croon to all Her chasers.
Sameric was watching Uli's acrobatics, smiling. He could feel a little lust...nothing like a dragon he imagined. He saw Reishy's Sea, Tirasha's Mineral, the Forest belonging to Kay...Arrow was it? There was the Weyrwoman's Mineral Cree, and another Sea named Blazer that looked to Kella he believed.
He hoped that his fire-lizard's maiden Flight would be good, and a happy one for her.

A chirp was given by the Sea to announce his presence, before the small creature crooned to Uli lovingly. He was mesmerized that time by her hide, and now [with it's glowing sheen] the Sea was even more enchanted by the Sand, captive under her spell. He dove and twisted, turned and thrilled, following the Sand to the best of his abilities. He was small, with a set of wings far too large for his body, which gave him an edge in flying. He did not need to waste as much energy, for the larger wings had an easy time carrying his light body of his.
Besides, this was a Sand's flight, nto a Sunshine, and Skitt was somewhat confident he stood a good chance. The rest of the contenders were lost in his mind, the thrilling Sea focused solely on Uli as his eyes whirled with strong shades of purples -- ocassionally filtering by a faint trail of pink. His croons became more reassured as the flight progressed, the flitter gainning a bit more confidence in himself.
After all, Reishy had seemed pleased with him chasing, and he would prove he was the best out of all the males! He would catch Uli!

Willow dashed after the Sand, spinning and twirling, doing his best to keep up and show off his flying abilities at the same time. He didn't want to lose this flight, the few others (compared to the handfull he had ever entered) had been so fun, and Willow had never flown a Sand before. What would that be like? The little Mineral had plenty of energy and so didn't worry much about that.
His eyes, already, were glowing a vibrant purple and focused on Uli. He sensed and sort of half-saw the other males around him. Another Mineral, a Forest, two Seas. They would be fun competitors. But Willow put them at the back of his mind for now- the Flight was just starting and his goal was to follow. Crooning to Uli, he fell into place a little behind and to the Sand's left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arrow's eyes were still tinged with uncertain yellows as he began the chase after Uli. The Forest had never chased another fire-lizard before, and he was reluctant to leave Kay too. But she was urging him on, he could feel it, she wanted him to try his best and win. Could he let His down? No...
Arrow trilled, his voice it's usual soft tone despite the lust that was beginning to rise as he followed the Sand. Purple was taking more dominance in his eyes, although pinks and yellows still held their place here and there. Would a flitt even choose him, a shy Forest? Arrow didn't know. But he supposed he would at least try- for Kay.
The Mineral felt like he already had His Mate, but felt also the need to do something fun. This was fun, and he doubted be would win, but… this was fun. Cree saw the others dash off after the Sand, but preferred to visualize his surroundings before dashing in after his prize. Even the Sea… Blazer was his name?... flew faster than he was now. Cree didn’t mind, from his position he could see exactly where Uli was flying. He began slowly, and very precisely, through the wood, following the exact path that Uli had thaken.
Ahead of him he saw another Mineral, a Forest… male of course, and another Sea besides Blazer. In his mind he wished them the best of luck, as he wasn’t completely lust-taken yet. He never really fully was lust-taken, he had learned against it because Zenniel was an empath, and it would hurt her. He didn’t like to hurt His. Instead, he flew at a leisurely pace, not catching up to any but instead flying so that he didn’t fall behind them, either. He knew what he was doing.
Blazer had first asked permission to join the Chase. Now that Kella had Mirr (whom she had started to teach the fundamentals of being a fire-lizard as soon as the Forest was born), Kella didn’t need him as much. But, since he was the oldest, and knew all of Kella’s moods, he still had to ask. Kella, laughing silently but uncontrollably, saw the purple in his eyes and let him go. Now he was Chasing, and he couldn’t believe he was getting ahead of a Mineral!
Since Blazer’s Mine didn’t have any empathic powers, Blazer’s eyes were fully purple and lust-colored. He would win this Flight, no matter what it took! The blue flitter was probably the smallest here, no! The other Sea was probably the same size as him, but he wouldn’t let that stop him. He was going to try his best, even if he wouldn’t win! This was fun, a game maybe? Kella had never done anything like this for him, and he wondered what those emotions that he was feeling were.
She saw the Seas, the one Mineral, and Forest following Her as She swerved and tumbled around the trees. She also noticed that the other Mineral Willow had not followed so willingly, instead had kind of scoped out the area first...smart She thought.
She shot up and came up behind the first Sea, Skitt, crooning to him. Before he even really knew she was there She was off again to the other Sea, Blazer, this time above him. She crooned and virtually vanished to go onto the Mineral, Willow...if She remembered right in a lust clouded mind, gliding right beside him before whisking off to fly around in a circle around Arrow the Forest.
She was enjoying Herself, She felt like a big cousin. Her purple eyes flashed to the other Mineral's location, Cree if She remembered right, and She zoomed over for a marginal second, crooning the whole time.
After She had visited each of the Chasers, She shot straight into the sky...without any thought of going back toward the ground.
After She was sure that most of them were following, if not all...She folded her wings and shot like an arrow through their midst.
Back over the Lake again She opened Her wings and glided over it, giving Herself a breather. These acrobatics were tiring Her out, but She was not going to be caught so quickly! She was going to choose who caught Her!!
Sameric smiled. She was having fun, but she was getting tired fast, this wasn't going to be that long of a Flight unless she gave up on acrobatics and just tried to out-fly her Chasers! Still, it was only her maiden Flight...she had plenty of time to learn.
He was happy for her.
The Mineral, such disgrace! He was slacking, and Skitt could notice. Why, he probably found this more like fun than something serious! The Sea chirped loudly in distaste, though he kept his gaze on Uli as she went. Mimicking each twirl, turn, dive and rise to the best of his own agility, the Sea made sure to keep up his pace with the lovely Sand. Her hide was so stunning, and she herself was so sweet, Skitt had been struck right through his little heart on their first meeting. And the Sea was determined to do anything to win this flight.
Why, he would go to Rukbath and back if Uli only asked for it!
And here she came, the beautiful darling, Skitt crooning softly and lovingly. And oh, to his hearts content, she crooned back before winking off to flirt with the others. But the Sea would not be angered. No, instead he continued to marvel over her and her displays -- picturing all those things she did were to him and not the other males. His eyes whirled quickly with purples and now lavender shades, the pink becoming stronger as it mixed and entwined with the lustful shades in hsi eyes.
She was so gorgeous, so agile, so astounding. He only wished he was worthy of being Hers.
As she shot straight into the sky Sitt folowed willingly, angling his wings and tail to make a sharp diagonal path that would place him right behind her. And soon, after a few moments of climbing higher, higher and higher she had folded her wings, shooting down and towards Pern like an arrow. A beautiful arrow, an arrow that had pierced his heart and made it hers already. Now she was gliding, and along with her he glided too. He dared to come closer, crooning softly to alert her of his presence, before twirling around her -- much like she had done with the Forest. He was more than willing to show her how fit he was, and that he would truly be a perfect sire for her clutch -- and for a mate.
Skitt was awed, enchanted, and certainly had even fallen into a deep infatuation for the Sand -- if not in love, already.
Willow kept up his pace behind Uli, doing his best to mimic her every move. Some were harder to do because of his larger size, but at least he had plenty of strength to put into attempting them. The other Mineral, Cree was it?, seemed to be lagging. He had a mate anyways didn't he? Maybe he was only in the chase for the fun of it, not to win. That was good- less competition.
Although Mineral's powerful lust was probably obvious in the shade of his purple eyes, he held that more within the confines of his own mind. His had never liked the feel of fire-lizard lust, and Willow had the self-control to not bother her much with it. It took a bit of his concentration, but not enough to mess him up in chasing.
Willow crooned to Uli as she flew briefly alongside him, happy that she had finally come to his turn in visiting with each of the chasers. As she took off skyward, he pumped his wings and followed, pulling forward and closer to her...
Only to have to practically leap backwards through the air to avoid the Sand as she dove back through the group of males. A squawk of surprise escaped him before he recovered and twisted around to follow her again. The turn made the Mineral fall behind a little, he wasn't as agile as the smaller Seas. But with a few powerful wingstrokes he managed to regain his original position.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arrow gave a surprised, if happy, chirp as Uli circled around him. She had done something with each of the chasers, but he had found himself not expecting her to come to him. Purple was taking more and more power in his eyes as the chase went on, he was thinking less about Kay and more about Uli and possibly... winning. Arrow was enjoying the Flight much more than he had expected.
Following Uli as she took a dash into the sky seemed easy- Forests seemed to be the perfect medium of size and strength. Arrow guessed he could keep up with the Sand and do his best to mimic her tricks and still last longer than a Sea, but fly quicker than a Mineral. He twirled out of the way as she turned to dive back, hiding his shock at the movement and softly congratulating himself on what he thought was a smart way to get out of the way.
Now they zoomed just above the surface of the lake. How fun to be able to see the reflection of all the fire-lizards as well as them ahead of him! Arrow very much liked Uli's ideas of where to go in this flight. The lake was very pretty, though not quite as much as the glistening Sand. Arrow rumbled softly, happy, before letting the noise turn into a soft but sensual croon to Uli. Yes, Arrow liked this very much.

Cree, the dear, watched as she came to him, then popped away. He followed her along to the Lake, and floated higher than her, his shadow falling below. He was taking his time, he would see this to the end, but he would not be as foolish as those others.
Blazer was already tiring out, but he willed himself to follow. He was unable to stop, not now! But Zen doesn't want to type anymore (I feel like crap for saying it), so he just followed behind. He was now quite easily the last Sea, the last Chaser there.

Uli was tiring fast, but she didn't want Her Flight to end! She knew it would have to though.
She looked back at all the would be Chasers, and one caught Her deep purple eye. That one would be Hers, if only he followed Her this last time.
Her wings beat painfully as She rose once again into the air, straight up. She knew that this would be Her last trick, she would pick the one after this. If only Her wings would stop hurting!
She rose higher and higher, and She refused to give in to pain or anything else until She was certain that every one of the lovely males were there to choose from.
Sameric could feel a little pain from Uli, but because she was not a dragon and the bond was not as strong as a dragon-bond it wasn't that bad. Just as if someone was pinching him in the shoulders. He could tell though that she was near her end in this Flight, and that he was proud of her.

Willow wasn't quite sure who it was that Uli had focused on when she looked back at her suitors- maybe him, but maybe another male here. There were several here that she could choose from and all were flying fairly close. And he by no means imagined that it only could have been him that she glanced at- Willow was not one to overdrive his hopes.
The little Mineral crooned to Uli as he followed her up higher into the air. The lovely little Sand was looking strained; this hadn't been a long flight. But the Mineral didn't mind. He just hoped he would catch! Up, up they went and Willow still worked to maintain his careful spot just behind Uli. The other males he paid little attention to- maybe they were his friends elsewhere but here his only goal was the Sand flying just ahead.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Arrow was feeling a little strain in his wings as he followed Uli, perhaps he was not as strong as he had first thought. Purple had finally taken over his eyes, proof of his excited lust. He cheeped to Uli when she glanced back, trying to match her glance with his own. Her eyes looked very lovely when they were purple, just as her sand-colored hide seemed so pretty.
Arrow did an excited little loop, ignoring the strain it gave his tiring wings, as Uli rose before shooting up after her. He wasn't anywhere near being exhausted, he was only a little tired and could still try tricks. His excitement at chasing for his first time along with the lust just urged him to do a little more. It was more fun, and perhaps Uli would like the little trick...
His eyes whirled in mixtures of deep purples and lights pink, mixing and soothing one another in a calming and relaxing tone of lavender shades. He was lust-driven, but the flitter had also been awestruck wince their first meeting. Uli had simply snatched his little heart away from him. Once more he crooned, chirped, mixing different sounds and tones to create a faint memory as he followed after the gorgeous and delicate Sand. Uli was perfect, she was the most gorgeous thing Skitt had ever seen -- or chased. The Sea wanted her for him, for him alone. He wanted no other, no one else [save his Keeper, of course]. He only wanted Uli.
And then she had turned to look back, and his heart skipped a bit.
The movement was reflected in his wings, his strokes faltering lightly before the firelizard regained his composture. Soon, she had shot up into the air, and he had willingly followed. His wings were beginning to feel the strain of the flight, but it was pain he could endure and ignore. He could go through anything, if it was for the beautiful Uli. Another soft croon, the whole world had been forgotten. Nothing else mattered, save for the small shifting hide that flew ahead of him -- like a peace of that glorious and soft beach sand that had been plucked right out and toss into the skies. He chirped and sang, rising right after her, never faltering in his path. Oh, but that Mineral was in his way!
With a loud chirp he twirled to the side, before passing the Mineral. He knew not who he was, and he cared little anyways. Skitt only had eyes for Uli, this was simply an obstacle in his way. The Sea crooned, watching the shifting hide, lured by it. Yet, Skitt had enough self-control to not touch, to let Uli have her personal spaces as he flew besides her, keeping the same distance. He would not impose himself onto her, but oh how the flitt hoped he was the one she had looked towards with those adoring purple eyes. Whirling optics continued to gaze and marvel, and another soft croon was given while he followed Uli up, up. Higher and higher...[/color]
Uli kept shooting straight up, but She was getting tired. If She didn't stop soon, She would hurt Herself.
She looked back at all the wonderful males, sorry that this had been such a short Flight for them. She crooned to them all before diving backwards into their midst straight at the one She had chosen.
Her eyes were wide open on the One, Hers as She smacked into him.
She crooned to him and wrapped Her neck around his. This was Her mate, her Skitt, her beautiful, thoughtful Sea!
Sameric smiled as he saw Uli and Skitt become one. He also wondered where Reishy was...he felt like kissing her...that was probably the lust from the Flight. Yet still, as he smiled into the sky, looked down, and started in...he knew that Uli had made HER choice. Sameric was content with it.
Uli was happy, beyond happy. She had Hers, and maybe Her pet could find one too...but that was for another day. Skitt was all She cared about now.
She was getting tired. That gorgeous jewel in the sky was beginning to slow down and falter. The Sea crooned softly, soothingly, as he continued to follow behind the gorgeous Sand. He hoped she wasn't straining herself too much, he didn't wished for Uli to get injured in her first flight. He and his Keeper ha seen the Sea of that Sunshine's rising, and his Keeper had mentioned he wouldn't be flying for a while. Oh no, he didn't want Uli to go through the same thing! She was so beautiful, so graceful n the sky. She deserved to be able to fly after this again, not be grounded to the floor! Again she had looked back, crooning to all her chasers, before she allowed herself to drop into their group. She was choosing.
A moment he had been worrying, what if she chose another? But then all his uncertainness was soothed, as he felt her warm neck and tail wrap around his, and a croon ripple through their bodies.
She had chosen him, Skitt! She was His, and now he was Hers as well. The Sea gave a thrill of delight and joy, crooning softly in return to the gorgeous Sand that he now supported in the air, his eyes continuing to whirl with purples and pinks - forming pretty lavender shades. She was His... He had won... And the Sea couldn't have felt any more happier. Another croon was given, the Sea using his energies to now support them both in the air in the dance of mating that came as instinct to his kin.
So, he had won? Reishy gave a soft smile, slightly able to feel the feelings her Sea radiated. He seemed really happy and content, and the red haired lass was happy for it. After all, her little Skitt didn't open up to many -- or accept them for that matter. It as good he had found someone he could love, and who knew? Maybe he would stop being so possessive of her and be gentler to Rush? She sure hoped so. The Forest in her arms chired curiously, whirling eyes looking up at his Keeper with love and devotion.
"Oh, don't worry Rush. You've still got plenty of time before you trade mommy for a girl of your own."
Another inquisitive chirp was given, the firelizard seeming confused, though Reishy only smiled softly and petted his almost black green hide. They entered the kitchens, off to get something to eat. This was a firelizard flight, not a dragons one, so Reishy had little effects from the event. She just felt a bit more happier than usual, but that was about it.
Willow crooned softly, watching the tiring Sand with caring eyes. He didn't want her to run out of energy, possibly hurt herself, oh no. The Flight would have to end soon.... He continued to follow her, picking up his pace and keeping closer to Uli than before.
But then she dropped back and practically threw herself into the little Sea, Skitt. A small cry escaped Willow, he had wanted to win.... But she had chosen Skitt. He could live with that. There were other flitts anyways... but it was very dissapointing to have not won the flight, to have been beaten by a Sea.
Quietly leaving the group, Willow flew off in a vague track towards the beach. His wouldn't mind if he didn't come straight home.
Tirasha and Tianthe exchanged a glance as Willow's unhappiness reached the Healer. Tianthe crooned softly, unhappy that her brother had failed in his attempt. Tirasha stroked her. "Well, I guess we'll get breakfast then. Willow will be hungry." She didn't expect him to come right back, but just in case she would have food ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arrow watched with a pained expression as Uli turned and flew straight towards Skitt. Of course he wouldn't have been chosen, he shouldn't have ever thought he would have any chance. The little Forest hovered for a moment, watching as Skitt carried Uli away, watching as the Mineral Willow flew off in a different direction. Then he felt a very strong pain of unhappiness as a new realization suddenly hit him- he had let down Kay.
She had wanted him to win hadn't she? Why else would she urge him to enter the Flight? Would she be angry? Arrow hoped not. Kay had never been angry with him before, this would be no time for it to start. Arrow turned his unhappy gaze towards Uli and Skitt again, crooned softly, and flicked between back to His.
Arrow appeared quite suddenly in front of Kay, his whole body sagging with the weight of his defeat. His first chase, and he had lost. And she was the one who had encouraged him to enter! She reached out and hugged the little flitt to her chest, making soothing purling noises in the back of her throat.
"It's alright Arrow, you can't win every flight. It's okay." She comforted him with a soft voice, regretting her choice to send him after Uli and feeling very sorry for her little Arrow. His own remorse only empowered hers. Arrow nuzzled against her chest and mewled unhappily.
