About the Person:

Physical Appearance: Let's put it this way... Once upon a time, a handsome Searider and a pretty kitchen woman had a kid. It makes sense that the kid is pretty good looking. Jaldon is tall, with a slim but muscular build. He seems to have a natural dragonrider's build, although eh does work out as well. You've got to be fit if you want to be a dragonrider, after all. His features are well-formed and nice to look at, aquiline but not in a bird-beak-for-a-nose kind of way. His eyes are a lovely, dark shade of brown, the kind that makes you believe that eyes really are the window to the soul. His hair is a reddish brown that usually looks unkempt, but still good, like punk-rocker hair. He does have his flaws...a big scar on his arm from when he was scratched by an angry fire-lizard, a finger that doesn't bend right because he broke it...but who's looking at stuff like that?

Personality: Jaldon can be just as charming as his father...when he wants to. He's just a little too shy and insecure to take advantage of it very much. Jaldon is one of those guys that has the perfect life, but just doesn't realize it. You sort of want to strangle him sometimes because of his attitude. He's always wondering whether or not he's good enough, and whether or not people like him. He is also terribly uncertain about exactly what he wants to do in life. He wants to be a dragonrider, he knows that. But what if he doesn't impress? He doesn't know of any crafts or anything he might like to pursue. His life revolves around the Weyr, and it scares him to think about what might happen if he lost that.

Jaldon tends to get along better with girls than with boys. First of all, they usually like him because he's good looking, so he doesn't have to worry so much about acceptance. And, he does have some of his father's flirtatiousness after all. He loves to flatter girls. A lot of times it comes off like he's just joking, though, because he's too hesitant to take it to a more serious level.

He is an empath, and is very sensitive to the emotions of others. He tries to hide it sometimes, but he is profoundly affected by the feelings of others around him. This can be difficult sometimes, but it also makes him a good listener and someone you can talk to when you are having hard times.

History: Jaldon is the result of a tryst between his father and a candidate girl. His mother was too busy completing her candidacy and then as a dragonrider to take care of him, so he was fostered to a lower caverns woman, Netica. His father visited him sometimes, however, and spoiled him with toys and candy. Jaldon was a very shy child and often confused by the feelings he had as an empath, and he had trouble making friends. He was very close to sister Zelana, although they were also competitive, especially for the attentions of their father.

From a young age, Jaldon loved dragons and was determined to become a candidate. None of the Crafts really appealed to him. He was too clumsy for the artsy crafts, his voice wasn't good enough for Harper craft, and the emotions of patients were too intense for him to be involved in Healer craft. As a young teenager, he helped dragonriders as often as he could with things like bathing their dragons and other chores. He would often go outside and just watch the dragons to escape from the problems of everyday life. As he got older, he had more problems with his empathy as conceptions of masculinity began to affect his peers...boys weren't supposed to cry when someone else was sad, or care if someone else was angry.

Finally, with Lilith's clutch approaching, he was Searched. He is really looking forward to it, and hopes that all of his dreams will come true.

Dragon Preference: Sand, Earth, Snow, whatever
Why: Those are the colors empaths usually Impress, and I like those colors a lot. I think that Sand would fit him well, and it would be interesting to see Jaldon on a female dragon. An Earth's easygoing, dependable personality would also be a good match. I like Snows a lot, but I'm not sure how likely that is because he's not particularly daring.
Really, you can give him any color, I just thought that those would be the most likely Impressions.
