New Southern Weyr ;;
15th Pass
The grubs meant to keep the ground safe from the Thread are failing. Slowly, day by day, they die. The dragonriders are forced, now more than ever, to combat two things: the fall of Thread and the death of the second defense against Thread. Aivas had been discovered, but the effects it had were not ones that could help fight the Thread. The Red Star is very much a menace still, even after so many hundreds of Turns. Will you fight the Thread, or teach those who will grow up to do so?
Only you can choose.

Alkmene Weyr « Result #1 on Sept 12, 2009, 3:21pm »
AIVAS does not exist, and the dragons still fight thread. This is how it looks to always be, and why not! Dragons need this purpose, as it is proven many times over in history. Yet, it seems it is a waning threat, as the star passes once again. Thread falls less often all the time now, and clutches are becoming smaller. A time of easy breathing is on it's way.
In these smaller clutches though, some odd dragons have appeared. Female bronzes, and small chromatics with only a hint of color. There seems to be nothing wrong with them, but with them only hailing from Ista and Alkmene Weyr, most are not sure what to make of them.
Add in the struggle for survival as Alkmene weyr has lost several bronzes and one old gold, and you have it! This is Alkmene weyr, located on the northern coast. Can it outlast the fall? What drama will play out as the loss of bronzes and a queen affect everyone... Will this new gold and weyrwoman live up to what has been left to them? Will the Weyr survive pressure from Ista to disban as both numbers dwindle? ------------------ Upcoming Events
Sept 12 - Gold Zilith Rises - this means a leader and a hatching! AND WHAT! There are only TWO bronzes in the entire Weyr!
Sept 13 - Random Flitt Giveaway One to each member with at least one character
Later in the month - Unveiling of secret mutation during the hatching.
WE NEED MEMBERS OF ALL TYPES, from Bronzes to Greens, and Crafters to drudges. CHECK US OUT TODAY!
Gold, Green, Brown, Bronze & Blue, High Reaches dragons will always fly true!
Twin Falls Weyr is a noncanon D.R.o.P. roleplay meant to give you more out of your roleplaying experience.
Our plots are unique and dark which is why we're rated R !
SO WHAT'S GOING DOWN?
Four turns have passed since the founding of Twin Falls, and so much has happened. The disease which destroyed the former Blue Cove Weyr still ravages the populace, taking many lives along the way and twisting the shapes of the dragons into hated mutant creatures. A man named Jarak, founder of the Wingclipper craft, gave Twin Falls a temporary cure for the sexually transmitted virus: to clip the wings of dragons, hobble the sickened whers, and stone the tainted firelizards.
Many people rebelled, and the Weyr was split in two, half fleeing to the remnants of the destroyed Blue Cove, trying to build a new home for themselves by the name of Skybound Weyr, but High Reaches Weyr starved out the rebels that dared let the diseased persist, making the rebels stretch their resources for a turn until they at least became one with Twin Falls again, their silver queen taking claim as Sn. Gold in place of the former Weyrwoman's clipped queen. Now with an obviously diseased male Weyrwoman (a title to laugh at to be sure), Twin Falls is barely holding on. Many have died, many more are on their way to the land between. Even the Master Clipper Jarak has succumbed to death. No one is safe.
Yet a strange man has just arrived at the Weyr offering a vaccine. Can Twin Falls trust another man who claims to have a cure or are the weyrfolk and their dragons doomed before they even try?
Surion Weyr Aff? « Result #3 on Aug 21, 2009, 2:48am »
The heartbeat of Pern was going strong. Peace throughout the Weyrs and Holds and bountiful in many ways. Babes were born strong and dragons a plenty. But there comes a point, where the good is too good. Especially to the Weyrs. They were becoming overcrowded with people. Some Weyrs could boast of six golds within their stone walls.
Surion Weyr was formed when a few Weyrs found themselves too overcrowded with Golds. They sent out the youngest Full Gold Riders to find a place of their choosing. The spot just had to be approved by the Harpers and the Gold rider had to be accompanied by two bronze riders and ten drudges, the rest of people equaling 50 total.
Most Queen riders found themselves either lacking the space or the riders. It was viewed that if a Queen truly had what it took she'd take the initiative to find her Weyr and she'd be charismatic enough to have at least 50 people follow her. And it would help thin out the Weyr a little bit.
Luna was one such hopeful. Desperate to get out of Benden and maybe do something for once. She had one problem, not enough people would come with her. Luna had found her perfect space, but not all the people to help start it being as she'd just graduated Weyrlinghood just a few short sevendays ago. She ended up lucking out, she found a secluded spot and starting cleaning it up and claiming it as her own.
Luna set up camp in the Southern Continent with only a few craftsman and her blue Search dragon rider, a dear old friend from Candidacy with her. Her plan was to slowly build up her numbers and help clean up the Weyr to attract members before the Harpers found out, so it was with alarm that she found herself in a Flight with only three dragons to choose from and not one a bronze.
In a desperate scramble, she found Candidates to stand for her eggs and many Impressed, but the dragons that came out weren't all normal. And in her haste she forgot to stay quiet around Harpers. Now they know about her illegal Weyr. And what's wrong with the Weyrbrats?

So what's going on now and in the future? We have: - Weyrlings from our latest clutch up for adoption - Solaria's only female blue rider up for adoption - A fire-lizard clutch in early August - An on-going plot involving tension between the Weyr and an NPC Hold - A hatching planned for the end of this year - Our first anniversary on the 15th of August
If we sound like the place for you, why not come take a look?
Ayden Weyr: a place created by dragonriders of all ages to be a home, a sanctuary and a protector. But people wanted more, they wanted to be free of everything else, they wanted a haven where they could relax, free from everything they had ever done, free from their past. So they moved South. The North Western coats of the Southern Continent was made their home, and they made a Weyr to rival any other with it's size and complexity. They chose experienced riders, strong riders and Queens that would sire and dam the new Southern generations of dragons. In the First Interval, Ayden Weyr was created, announced open and people and riders alike flocked to it.
AND WE CAN NEVER FORGET
But people had family in the North, dragons had their hatching sands and despite the new start, people were still worried about the past. They kept in touch with the Northern Weyrs, offering support and getting support as the dragon population flourished and eclined. Transfers were made as people began feeling more homesick, but the new generation kept firm hold to the South which stopped any talk of the Weyr being abandoned. Things moved along smoothly, babies and eggs hatched, dragon graduated, people moved on with their lives. Their bond with the North grew stronger everyday, each hatching brining more and more vists to either continent till soon it seemed like the South was merely a part of the North, and vice versa. People came on holiday to the Holds and Halls that had built up under the Weyrs ender care, and sometimes they even visited the Weyr itself.
BUT THINGS CHANGE
Threadfall struck. The South was left unprepared, with too few dragon wings finalised and far too many dragons being used as transport to the North. Things needed to be changed; rapidly. Nobody suggested that dragon travel should be stopped, but soon all the Weyrs were argueing about it, pushing forward names and accusing each other like children. Ayden was at the top of the list. Still small compared to the Northern Weyrs, it was fond of the Northern Weyrs help, it's support. Without it it's dragon population wuld shrink, quite a few of them belonging to Northern Weyrs but only here to help. Thread had ruined everything, not only crops and land. They were faced with choice after choice as more and more riders were called from the South to the North, as contatc grew less and less and the dragon population was spread thin as casualties rose and transport between the two continents continued. Finally they were left with only one: seperate completel, or face extinction. Many chose to leave after that, the Holds and Halls emptying slightly as people picked up and left with the last of the Northern riders. But those that were born there, those that were more in touch with the South stayed. And they fought.
AND WE MUST FIGHT THROUGH THEM
The memory of the North slowly dissapeared, being reduced to rumours in little over twenty years, and still with the rest of the Pass to go. Finally they were nothing more then legends and myths, bed times stories for children. The tale of how Ayden became Ayden was little more then fairy tale. It's founders all but forgotten, and it's heroes dead and buried. Things changed as knowledge was lost, and as the Second Interval came and went, many more coming after it, people grew hidebound.
BECAUSE WE WILL LIVE
And now Ayden faces more challenges after Turns of growing ignorant have been and gone. The lack of breeding stock in dragons have forced new and strange colours to pop up, from the two Silvers, to the two Bloodstones: Silvers, capable of clucthing with hide like pure moonlight, Azures, almost as large as Blues with a blue tinge to their hide, Crimsons, with a second hide covered in stains, and finally Blacks, stealing their brothers second hide only for it to make them darker. Rumours have sprung up, tales spun of armies massing, dragons in astounding numbers grouping over the ocean, and not even Ayden Weyr dares to investigate. But of course, they will not flinch, life must go on.

Pern: Chronicls, A 1st Pass Pern AU RPG « Result #7 on Jul 5, 2009, 7:18pm »
Pern was to be a new Earth for those who settled on it, it was as close to Earth many could get in fact. Though new flora and fauna was found, and some peculiar tridactyl clawed creatures which came to be called Dragonets enraptured many, and soon were found to be quite bondable. Later, smaller pentadactyl clawed ones, called Firelizards were born, modified from the original Dragonets by the Geneticists. They became quite popular and trainable pets to the people who didn’t seem to mind the presence of both wild and partnered Firelizards and Dragonets, as mischievous as they could be. 8 Years after Landing that happiness was shattered by a mycorrhizoid organism that came to be known as ‘Thread’. After the devastating blow it dealt to the colony, leaving many families dead or injured, it was decided something needed to be done. It was the Firelizards and Dragonets that gave them the key to their salvation after seeing them flame the silver strands to ash using an ingested phosphine stone to produce flame.
It was from this the ‘Dragon’ project was commenced, an elderly woman was the head of the project and a talented geneticist she was. Much of the colony was moved into a dormant volcano kept at a comfortable warmth by the thermal passages below it. The other half to follow soon as the project was completed. During creation it was up to the Sled pilots to protect the remaining people in the colony, attaching flame throwers to their sled they fought ‘Thread’ and kept everyone safe. It was shortly after the project was completed and three clutches of eggs created that the elderly geneticist pass on in her sleep. Her daughter however talented was envious of her mother and in an attempt to copy and improve her mothers work.. It was the third clutch she experimented on, all but 8 of the 29 eggs were destroyed by the woman’s meddling. She hid the clutch in a dark, hot and sandy cavern of the bowels of the colony’s new home. To everyone else she lied and told them that the third clutch had died during her night watching them.
The first 25 eggs of the first clutch were brought out onto a large sandy area, heated to a foot burning heat by the lava deep below the surface. Now that their work was done the rest of the colonists moved to their new home, leaving Landing empty. Everything that could be moved was brought to the home they had made for themselves. Medicine seem to be the only thing that suffered the least in the move, although cooking thrived in new and exciting ways, as did the schooling of children. Candidates for the eggs were picked according to traits they displayed, although everyone would be welcome to watch the eggs hatch from the seats that had been erected permanently around what had come to be known as the Hatching Sands. For the moment 25 eggs of the first clutch rapidly hardened, whilst the second clutch lay dormant on the sands until it was their time to hatch.

It is the middle of the 9th pass, AIVAS was never discovered and the Red Star still rains Thread down on Pern. The dragonriders were in vast numbers and easily met this threat, new weyrs having to be founded on both the Northern and Southern continents to prevent over-crowding. New Holds flourished and prospered and wealth grew abound about Pern.
Until the unexpected happened...
One night, the night sky became ablaze with the fire of a falling star, plummeting to Pern at an alarming rate, slamming into the mountains of the Northern Continent with such force, it cracked the ground and sent earthquakes across the Northern lands for days. Days after the impact, the natural wildlife began to die, animals cropping up dead, even when they were in perfect health. It spread through the Holds fast, wiping out every last living thing and it finally reached the Weyrs. Whatever this 'virus' was, it hit hard and fast and the healers were unable to come even remotely close to finding a cure or a way to slow it down. It affected humans, dragons, whers, and firelizards alike, killing them off within a few candlemarks of infection. Those that could fled the Northern Continent, but the virus followed them to the Southern Continent and wiped out the weyrs and holds there as well. Few escaped the touch of the virus and those that managed to survive are still infected with it, the virus having gone dormant after running its rampage across Pern, killing off over 90% of the population alone. The survivors struggled to make a living and the few dragonriders left had fled to the deep reaches of the Southern Continent.
After 10 Turns, things appeared to be turning around for the Pernese that had survived. Small holdings were re-established and the people prospered from a sudden lack of Threadfall. None had heard from the dragonriders and believed they had all died. Things began to look positive for the population... until a Thread chart was discovered.
The absence of Threadfall was due to a spontaneous and short Interval that would only last another 15 Turns. The people began to panic, if Thread fell and there were no dragonriders to fight it, they were all doomed. So, the small holdings near the Southern's coast put together an exploration team to travel deeper into the continent in hopes of finding a surviving weyr.
And they succeeded! 10 dragons hatched and Impressed, including a gold queen. A surviving dragonrider was also discovered and is now training the weyrlings! To add to the good news, firelizards were discovered, 19 eggs having hatched and Impressed to their new owners. Hope now slowly seeps through Pern as all wait for the dragons to grow and the queen to fly...

WEYR BEHIND!
When Lessa jumped back in time 400 turns, she rallied five of the Pernese Weyrs and invited them to the future, where they would help save Pern from their nemesis, the silvery spore called Thread. The Weyrs – Fort, Igen, Ista, High Reaches and Telgar – would follow her, and establish their Weyrs in the Ninth Pass, to be forever remembered as Pern’s saviors.
But one Weyr was left behind, one Weyr was forced to remain in the dark, to wait patiently until the Long Interval ended and the new pass began. When the Weyrleaders met with Lessa to decide their fate, only the Benden Weyrleader was invited to the meetings. Only he understands why the Riders up and vanished; only he understands it was a necessary thing for them to leave.
Not even the Benden Weyrwoman knows what happened to the other Weyrs, and the entirety of Pern is reeling with the realization that only Benden Weyr will be left to save the planet when the Red Star returns again. Outrage, disbelief, terror and confusion are felt all over the planet, and Holder and Crafter alike are resentful of the Weyrs that they had once tithed vigorously to. Relationships all over the planet have been severed and each Hold and Hall now looks to Benden for guidance, reassurance and explanations.
Will the frazzled Benden Weyrleaders be able to handle the pressure, and how will Pern adjust to life with only one Weyr? Now that the Interval has begun, what is in store for Pern as they await the return of the Red Star?
All these questions and more remain to be answered at Weyr Behind!
Before the Fall: An Intermediate 5th Pass Pern RPG « Result #11 on Jun 1, 2009, 10:20pm »
Set three turns before the return of Thread after the first Long Interval, Before the Fall is a strict canon-base, traditionalist, play by post rpg.
Almost 200 turns ago, Thread failed to fall from the skies, raining down it’s deadly enemy. Some say that Thread would never fall again, while the dragonriders never stood down its vigilante watch over the skies.
However, it was a mixed blessing that Thread never came. Towards the end of the Lost Pass (as it was come to be known), a terrible airborne flu stuck at the lands of Pern. Dragonriders and Holders alike fell victim to the deadly disease, killing off almost a quarter of the population. To those that rode dragons, the loss was even more devastating. Only four Queens survived the epidemic, with only two of those Queens still in the prime of their fertile time. The Weyrs struggled with what to do, but soon it became clear that they would have to consolidate their numbers. Closing down first Ista and High Reaches, and then Igen and Telgar when their Queens failed to rise or produce a Queen to replace them. They watched as their numbers dwindle, as more riders died than eggs being laid.
Fast forwards almost 150 turns, Fort is beginning to once again fill those long empty weyrs. Boasting and unheard of five golds, the weyr prospect is once again a good one. However, things aren’t always what they seem. Unknown to all but a few the Senior Weyrwomen is slowing dying, and the oldest Junior is quickly coming to the end of her prime fertile turns. Rumors are flying that the Weyr Council will be opening up High Reaches soon, and, much like Telgar, that it will be Fort that will be supplying her with its Weyrwomen. Rider and Resident alike are jostling to either be picked to go or to stay.
There is a change on wind and the Weyr knows it. But with the Red Star looming ever closer, some wonder if this change is a good thing.
The Eighth Pass has begun. Many believed that it would come, but belief alone is not enough to prepare a planet to face its most ancient enemy. The underpopulated Weyrs will do their best, but is their best good enough? And with political turmoil all around thanks to the women's rights movement, will Pern's traditions be maintained for much longer?
Solaria Weyr is a canon, Eighth Pass Pern role-playing game. Women have begun Impressing to green and rarely blue dragons in the past two decades, and the female fight for equal rights is a major part of our game. Solaria Weyr offers an active Hold (complete with a most interesting Lord Holder!) and Harper Hall, on-going plots that involve all characters, dragons custom written for their Impressees, friendly players from a wide variety of time zones, and a very laid back atmosphere.
We are currently looking for characters for the recently opened Harper Hall, potential candidates for our next clutch clutch, which will be laid in mid June for a late June hatching. We also need some bronze riders who could potentially sire the clutch Gold Bacapth will be rising at the beginning of May, so if you're interested in creating a bronze rider, it's best to get in there early! The player of the sire will be offered a place on the Search Committee, the group of players who write dragons for candidates. Information on the Search Committee can be found here. Details of our previous clutches can be found here.
In addition to this, a plot surrounding Mathon Hold is running alongside this clutch. Details surrounding this can be found here.
If Solaria Weyr sounds like the place for you, why not check us out?
Mavros Weyr and Seahold « Result #13 on Mar 14, 2009, 4:07pm »
MAVROS WEYR AND SEAHOLD
Status: Just founded, and awaiting our first dragon hatching, scheduled for April 11th.
Currently Accepting: Bronze (2), Brown, Green, and Blue riders. A queen is on the sands, and we need Candidates of both genders! Also, the first six members to have their holder, non-candidate characters approved will be able to impress fire lizards at a special early hatching.
Mavros is a canon color, non-canon premise weyrhold with a PG-13 rating. Located around a volcanic caldera, Mavros is composed of banished dragonriders and Holders from the Southern Continent. This means the Weyr "Bowl" is actually a harbor, and space is tight! Moreover, the Tenth Pass has just begun, and after a disastrous first threadfall, the Weyr has found itself with only thirteen adult dragons remaining. Asurath's clutch of twenty eggs, one of them a queen, is Mavros' only hope for the future.
Senior Weyrwoman Oria’s account of the journey to Mavros and First Fall
We departed from Tidewater Hold on the first day of the eighth month. It was high summer, and the seas were calm. The conflict between myself and Senior Weyrwoman Kalena had escalated to a point where violence between our factions had broken out. In the interest of stopping further bloodshed, it was determined that the more junior queen and her supporters should quit the weyr for good.
With a contingent of thirty-three riders and twenty weyrlings, as well as one hundred eight-six assorted holders and weyrfolk, we chose to form a new weyrhold on one of the lower Western Ring Islands rather than disperse amongst the other weyrs. Mavros was the one we chose.
While the weyrfolk and other holders were brought to Mavros on dragonback one by one, along with the supplies we had managed to accumulate, the fisherfolk set sail with their families and a number of riders accompanying them.
Already settled into the natural caves of Mavros Bay, we awaited their arrival with impatience. Candidate Master S’ten, thinking to give the weyrlings flight practice, decided to take them out to meet the fleet halfway. They departed, and the rest of us waited, even as the weather became stormy, and lightning struck the highest rock on Lesser Mavros. Then, suddenly, blue Nesporth blinked from between, bearing his severely injured rider and one desperate message which made all our blood run cold.
Thread. No one anticipated the early-onset of the 10th pass. According to calculations, it should not have arrived for twenty years. That knowledge was of little help to us in the face of disaster. Despite my efforts to organize our assault, the remaining two wings of dragons took off in valiant disorder. We arrived in the middle of a thread-storm. Torrents of deadly silver spun in the air, whipped back and forth unpredictably by gale force winds, as the sea below churned, throwing up spray and billowing with the pallid carcasses of the drowned organisms. Among them, illuminated in the flashes of lightning, tossed fallen riders and weyrlings alike.
Six of the fisher boats were nowhere to be seen. Only three dragons of the escort remained, guarding the remaining ships with a kind of desperate courage I hope I will never see again. They had made use of the firestone which had been brought over on the largest of the ships, but it had only lasted them so long because there were so few of them remaining. The others must have perished in the initial confusion – and among them, Weyrleader M’ton and his bronze Moroth. And for the weyrlings...
They were inadequately trained. That is all I will say on the matter. They had no idea how to fly in formation properly, much less fight. Weyrwoman Kalena had thought it better that they learn acrobatics during their first three months of training, rather than fighting drills.
I ordered half the dragons to cover as others, under the command of bronze Sorth, lifted up the fisher boats and flashed between; the only thought in my mind being that we should not lose our comrades for nothing, that the fleet would be brought home safely, or we would not return at all. My thinking was confused and overly influenced by Asurath’s rage and despair. I was hard put to direct her to defend herself at that moment, let alone give orders.
Only fifteen riders made it back to Mavros, three of whom died of their injuries soon after.
The extent of the disaster has left us stunned, but I have managed to convince the majority of holders that we cannot return to Tidewalk Weyr. To do so would dishonor the memory of our fallen, who died to protect the dream of building a true weyr, like the great weyrs of the Ninth Pass. And I truly believe that our holders will be safer here on Mavros than they would be on the continent. The fishing is rich, and there is room enough on the island to support herdbeasts for at least two hundred dragons, while still being small and rocky enough so we can adequately defend it against Threadfall, even in our reduced numbers. When Asurath and Moroth’s clutch hatches, I will have their children and their riders trained to honor the sacrifices which gave them the chance at a new way of life.
Come create a character, and give Mavros a chance to survive!
Selenitas Weyr « Result #14 on Feb 1, 2009, 11:29am »
Selenitas Weyr Pern regresses…
Benden. With brutal force, Benden Weyr chooses only the strong as the ones worthy of power. Women, homosexuals, and those weak of mind are only secondary to the strong men—the strong men that ruthlessly attack even the peaceful.
Fort. With cunning intelligence, Fort Weyr is in the midst of chaos. Especially since the murder of their Weyrwoman and Weyrleader, they are filled with anger and bloodlust toward any that dare try to take over.
High Reaches. With fear and desperation for peace, High Reaches Weyr was recently founded by a fleeing Fort goldrider, her only hope against becoming a Fort Weyrwoman. They live on the desperate dream of hope, but this dream will probably be their downfall.
Selenitas. With compassion and acceptance of all, Selenitas Weyr is quickly rebounding from a weak, spineless Weyr in the South to a slowly growing voice in Northern politics. They are accepting of all types of people, but their hope to stay out of the war is dying.
---
Selenitas Weyr, for turns, has been a useless dictatorship, with all the Weyrwomen falling under the same bloodline as the woman who founded the Weyr. Every Weyrwoman for centuries could trace her bloodline all the way back to Weyrwoman Selenitas. This proud bloodline used this as an excuse that they were the best bloodline in the South. Ignoring the Northern disputes, the self-proclaimed “Line of Selenitas” ruled the South with a greedy fist.
However, this all changed when an immature, teenaged Weyrwoman came to power. Shmee, a girl from Hyphen Hold, Impressed the golden Aslath. In shock that a simple child who wasn’t of the Line of Selenitas was destined to be Weyrwoman, the Weyrwoman before Shmee succumbed to death. This death thrust Shmee in charge of the Weyr: of the weak clutch on the sands, of the pressure from the North, and of the returning Threadfall.
The war between Benden and Fort is escalating. Dragon against dragon combat is growing worse, to a point where dragons are so used to deaths that they no longer keen. The murder of the Fort Weyrleaders made things all the more worse, with Fort seeking vengeance as well as victory. Unfortunately, they wish to bring Selenitas into it…
Despite this sudden shift, Selenitas is able to manage. Yet obstacles await them at every turn! Massacres, kidnappings, attempted assassinations are all the price of trying to stay out of the war.
But if trying to stay out of the war leads to these things, what will it mean if Selenitas has to fight?

Elemental Essence
Wild horses roam free all over the world. But there is one place where wild horses are... different. They are called Elementals. They can control ice, fire, earth, air, water, and lightning. They are powerful creatures, but no one knows of them. The could take over the world, but they chose to isolate themselves. The Elementals roamed free together, like any other wild horse. But the yearning for power proved too much for the fire and ice Elementals. They began to fight for leadership, gain control of the herd. But most horses proved to be too loyal to their water Elemental leaders. The fire and ice Elementals eventually split, claiming their own territory for themselves. There they would stay, gaining power and strength all too quickly. How the rest of them split up, no one knows. maybe they thought it was for the best? Earth and air went together, while water and lightning kept surprisingly close, keeping lots of land for themselves. Now war tends to threaten their peaceful lives.
